sounds to me like you need to pull the side of the panel off and check to make sure the mp3 connection is still connected - sounds like its come loose over time.

Ensure the AUX cable is also zip tied out of the way of the gear cables to save hassle in the future.

yeah i'd imagine it's more to do with the wiring under the centre console (next to the gear stick) if gears are interfering with it!
Yep that's exactly what it was. Managed to fix it today which I am super chuffed about as I now have my full music library at my disposal
Wasn't able to get the centre console off though, really didn't know where to pull and I didn't want to break anything so I went in via the gear stick. Took the knob off and the gaiter and had a poke around. The socket to plug into is on the drivers side next to the power output, but the cable comes from the passenger side so it has to go over the gear bits and bobs. The wire was hanging down and getting pushed and pulled about by the gear cables. Now as I only had a small area of access I could only reposition the wire so that it doesn't touch...however I fear it will soon fall back. I wedged it up between the cup holder and plastic behind that. Seems alright for now but I will have to get some strong tape and stick it to the roof of the console. Anyone recommend any good tape for this? I only had some masking tape and I tried that but it wouldn't stick well to the plastic. Thinking of trying some strong duct tape.
