Im sure this has been covered before but I was not aware that its was possible to add an Aux input to the 6006 head unit. Can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction on where I can get the adpator and how to fit it? Do you have to remove part of the head unit for example?

...isn't there a port on the back of the headunit?

looks like instructions come with the kit too.

I imagine you will have to take the head unit out to get round the back
although you can get your hand round the back from the glove compartment, at least I could anyway, wont help though as you cant see anything

That's the part you need mate! I'd imagine it plugs somewhere into the back of the unit so the HU would need to be removed.

I am not sure if you can use the Aux in the pre face lift models 2005. There is a picture on the link where the aux connect goes through

You can do it on early 6006 units, but it's just hidden round the back and not really convenient to get to. On later ones, even before the aux socket became standard, the socket was still always there and if you picked it as an option all you were really paying was for Ford to drill the hole in the plastic so you could access it lol.

How come you've only got a 4500 stereo in your ST when the 6006 was standard?

You get the aux kit from a ford dealership for about £20 or from the link above.

Piece of cake to fit and the kit comes with instructions. Only hard bit is a little bit of drilling in the centre console

My wifes 2002 ST170 has the 6006e CD RDS EON in it and my 2005 ST150 has a 6006 RDS EON as well only mine is the one that looks like its in 3 sections.

So can anyone now tell me if either of these units can have an aux adaptor?

Hi there. Both units have AUX buttons on them so you have the ability to fit a aux adapter to connect an MP3 player.
I have the same radio as your ST and I got a cable from Ford for £8 and it just plugs in the back. As for the ST170, it will probably work the same although there may already be an MP3 connector in the glovebox.
Either way both will be able to connect up without too bother.
