I had mine done though it's not obligatory as part of the service schedule, it's included as an option. My car had sat about a lot for the first year before I owned it so I thought I'd have it done as a precaution.

It's a recommended procedure for all cars though very few have it done. I suppose in general use, the fluid will never get that hot, but for a sporty vehicle likely to be driven hard it is worth it.
