The other theory is the carbon fibre battery cover you can get. The fit quality and the fact it can touch both terminals has been raised (privately).
You can also see some engine bay bling too apparently (airbox or rocker cover?).

Those things you said could well be correct but to cause a fire ball like that would require intense heat to build up and something to burn... carbon fibre might well be the fact... but I feel it's something deeper than that.
