Welcome to the site and thanks for your question... it's a very interesting one.

If nobody teaches these youngsters how to deal with real driving how can they be expected to do it?

I don't really agree with this statement really... teaching people in an should be no different to teaching in a 1.0 Metro as they will be doing the same speeds.

I wouldn't expect anyone to use the power of a 1.0 Metro when learning to drive let alone a 2.0L Fiesta. An advance driving course is set out to teach people things like this.

I can understand your aim to have a nice sporty car but:

1. Most people won't even know what a Fiesta is
2. They might damage it and it will cost you a lot more to repair... for example the 17" alloys bashed up the curb will damage the alloy for sure and possibly even other parts... with smaller alloys the tyre protects them a little more.
3. Your petrol consumption will be a lot!!!

Why don't you think about getting a Zetec S Diesel? It would be very fuel efficient... it has the same body panels as the but has 16" alloys which would cope with a sloppy learner a lot better.
