If you hear the knocking noide going over bumps and around corners then it's likely to be the power steering hose. Many ST's have this and apparently there is a replacement part to fix this problem but no official recall by ford which I guess means that only customers who complain will have it fixed. If I remember correctly Michael had this fixed on his car. I still have the fault on mine but I've learned to live with it.
