Had it on a Renault Megane, keyless entry/ignition. Once used to it, it was excellent.

Shame the dealer didn't understand the concept as he said the car would lock itself..... Wrong, fortunately I was on nights and car was in works car park, one of the lads had a look over it and found the door open!!

Anyway, the car sensed the remote card in your pocket but would only unlock the door when the handle was pulled. Once in the car the dash would request either the brake or the clutch be pressed along with the start button if it detected the remote card. If the card was undetected, it would display "card not detected".

You could also push the card into the card slot below the stereo, think this was just in case the batteries were flat in the remote card.

To lock it simply press the lock button on the remote card once door's shut, if you left any windows of the roof open a longer press would do full closure too!!

A very good gimmick, but just adds to the list of things (electronic) that can go wrong. Being French it did...... but that's another story!!!
