well ill tell you how i get on, will see what they say as i have no oil and the pipes for the airbox are loose lets see how observant they are think the service is costing me 130 quid. There or there abouts. Going to ask them about performance issues like putting on an exhaust system etc and air filter.. will tell them to do a paint service too... cant beleive i had no oil just hope the whirring noise was not due to that oh well only time will tell i suppose

well the car is in now i have asked for paint service, they stated it was going to be 9.99 GBP to do a service on the paint which is fair play i suppose and is worth its money, i did talk to them about exhausts as i was thinking of putting in the exhaust system, they stated if there was a problem with the exhaust system they couldnt sort it out.
But would it go for a service with alterations to the exhaust system, yes it could aslong as it is road legal, but it could get stamped in the book, word of warning on the air filter, if you have a panel filter upgrade take it out and put manufacturers one back in as they replace it on the first service, if u have an induction kit, take it off and put existing kit on, seems that will be an issue on your first service. As my car has naff all oil and i have not tightened the clips around the air box i will be using this as a test to see when they replace the panel filter will they tighten the hose clips and notice there is no screws in the cold air feed...
will keep people posted....

The only filters they change on the first service is the pollen filter and oil filter.

Thats enviromental disposure of all old parts and fluids.
Dave : Your right , on 06 vehicles the first service you should be given the option is you want it changed. But depends on the dealership really.

You wont have no oil whatsoever too Patrick... there'll be some or you'd have one seized engine.

My ST is due for its first service in a couple of days, I too was going to leave my K&N fitted as I cant be bothered taking it out and refitting the original parts. Hopefully the dealer will be OK with it. Thing is if I replaced the original filter then it would be obvious that it has never been used as I fitted the K&N within two days of having my ST. Also, I dont know if I am correct or not but I was told that they will probably know anyway if the car is "plugged in" then it will show different stats i.e the mixtures etc which have adjusted to compensate for the K&N. Does anybody know if this true?

A lot of people get the wrong idea about servicing and mods. Firstly you are paying the service department to service your car not inspect it for warrenty mods, and service it is what they will do. Secondly the air filter is not checked/changed on a first service anyway.
Most dealerships are happy with K&N induction kits as long as you are not requiring warrenty work for an engine problem,K&Ns should not cause a problem but if an engine problem does arise ford will blame the K&N to wriggle out of the claim. Check the guarentee that came with the K&N kit.

As a precaution ask your dealer workshop manager if they are ok with induction kits. Some dont mind but some do, phone around local dealers.
