Going to look at a ST tonight and have a test drive, just wanted to know if this is a good deal.

I was going to go for a one will all the extras but i was looking at around £11,100. This other car makes more scense for me and the wife as im trying to keep costs down.

06 plate, 6080 miles, performance blue, everything else standard.
£9299.00

Also any pointers and what to look for while test driving it?
Common faults ect?

I know the clutch on fiesta zetecs can give of a nasty sqeek, do the ST's suffer from this?

Finally, i drive the wifes 1.4 fiesta at the moment and tbh i have never drove a quick car. Im a little worried that im going to run a granny over or something while on the test drive

Any first drive pointers?

Cheers again lads you have been great in helping me so far, i will upload pics once i have the motor on my drive.

i can't comment on whether it's a good deal (i don't know enough about the cars) but I can say that a car will only go fast if you put your foot down regardless of engine size. I think the granny's will be safe lol

Common faults list:

1)Rattles and squeaks from all over
2)Clutch pedal coming detached from the master cylinder (recall out)
3)Wheel centre caps fall off quite easily
4)The alarm sounds inadvertently
5)The Seat handles break (Ford say they will not cover after 1st years warranty cos there tight sods even though it is a design fault)
6)Bonnet handle release will not work (takes two ppl to open)
7) Ford customer services

you might be really unlucky and have a really badly built one and have £3500 worth of warranty work done in 2 years

But thats just my experience.

Also if you do have a fault and Ford technical do not know how to repair it you will have to put up with it for 9 months until they work out how to reapir it.

Quick update the dealer stated that this model is the one with the sticky up headlights (little nobble thingy on the top).

Is there any real difference between this model and the newer 07 apart from the lights?

That is the newer 07 model. From the 55 plate (December 2005) they 'facelifted' the Fiesta to include new front and rear lights and an interior redesign which is very different from the pre-facelift. If you look around in the forecourt of the forum you will be able to see the differences quite easily.
Also, the facelifts have the option of auto lights/wipers, bluetooth and a few other snasy extras. All in all I think the facelift looks better as an overall package but thats because ive had two

Yes the one you are looking at is the most up to date. On the facelifts you also have a choice of a red dash, blue dash or grey dash. I personally prefer the blue dash which is what you get on the sapphire haze interior combo or the blue diamond interior combo. The difference being the sapphire haze has full leather heated seats. It's all a matter of opinion though.

Probably a bit late now to offer you any pointers, it certainly will have more go if you floor it, but I am sure you will be fine!! Let us know how it went!!

Hi there, as Ben correctly points out the 06 one you're looking at is the most up-to-date model. The only minor chnage they made for 07 is that they now include an mp3 player connection port as standrad (previously it was just an option). As you've said it's standard, I'm guessing that it won't have the heated leather seats in which case it will have a blue interior like this one:

Let us know how you get on and what you think.

I don't think that was too bad. I am trading in my december 56 plate ST to my dealer in december this year and have been given £9300, it will have around 11000 miles on it. I think though this has something to do with the fact that this is the 6th car we have bought in the last 4 years so they have given me a very good deal. Top notch dealer too, cannot fault in any way at all. wish all dealers treated their customers the same way.

Yup its sitting outside at the moment .....well i hope so, im going to look after this post

I love it, love the colour and the interior and its a quick little thing.
Funny thing is i aint seen an ST where i live for a long time, first day i drove it i saw two of the buggers.

Im still scared to leave it parked in dodgy places, which is abit of a git.

As other people said, if you have the money and your happy about it then buy it.
Your always going to get people saying they got a better deal or you have been ripped off ect.

Just enjoy your machine thats what i say
