Im just curious about how the matches against other sports cars, so if anyone has any storys on (Im sure legal) street racing or track day events, basically anything which made the ST looked the dogs balls. Please feel free to tell the tale

I don't have any stories about street racing sorry. Only some comparisons from track days. Not sure why you are specifically asking for street racing stories to be honest. Would you not say that track day stories would be more representative on the actualy performance of the car and how it compares against other cars?

erm well ive certainly raced a few cars since i had my ST but it all depends on different things like how many people in the car, weight, mods, the driver, etc so its hard to say how it compares up against other cars. The clio 172, the Corsa VXR, the C2 VTS, Pug 206 GTi, Golf GTi, Focus ST170, all up there amongst its rivals and as much as i hate to say, its very underpowered for a 2.0litre engine but such a nice drive and so confortable!

I had a great fully legal race with a Jaguar (pretty sure it was a 4 litre) a few months back!! It was very close but I won Although my fuel went down by about 40 miles over a one mile bit of road lol

so far not many people have stepped up and tried to race me which im quite suprised about! i thought the sripes would be a bit tempting for the boy racers to come and have a go!
i did manage to slaughter a k reg golf gti, a few saxo vts, mg zr and a corsa gsi.
winding up lads in 1.2 corsas with body kits and huge exuhausts is amusing!
i did however get completely nailed by a j reg honda civic!!! i wasnt happy bout that one

I have to agree with the post from Bradders, the fiesta ST aint gonna win you too many races! Mine has been modded to around 165bhp and still a clio 172, 182, mini cooper S etc etc will eat it alive. But the ST isnt all about speed its great to drive, handles well and looks great too.

haha those old civics.. assuming it was the vti.. are pretty quick! Think they have about 160 brake from a 1.6 enigne! If it wasn't a vti.. you must have had the handbrake on

yes he was asking for it all the time he follow! he wanted to follow me so much that at the roundabout he almost missed hes turn and it the tigra next to him!!
as for the average fuel comsuption is so far higher than the ST but did go push the car! on my trip computer can see how much fuel I use right now and at normal speed its like a diesel doesn't use much petrol!!

yeah thought it might be the case... went in my mates TT again today, 1.8 turbo. Averaging 38.6 mpg and booting it quite a bit!

yeah.. I mean it makes sense really, it needs the turbo to produce the power equivalent to that of the ST. When you're cruising in the ST it's always guzzling, if you're cruising with the turbo'd car, it won't be guzzling in the same way... wish mine was a 1.8 turbo

its not too late to change!! did see with the revs counter than the GTI does revs less then the ST at the same speed! that surely help as well!

yeah definitely. I mean it has the power to allow the lower gear ratios. The ST has always needed a 6th gear.

It is too late, I have bought mine on finance stuck with it for a while now!

Absolutely! I am aiming for a turbo next, and if I can't find the right petrol, it will be a diesel! Maybe an A5 3l TDi, have to get saving though haha
