Today I took a visit to my nearest Ford Dealer to see about upgrading to a Focus ST.
My Fiests is 12 months old, perfect flawless condition, 11k on clock, nearly every extra fitted, AND,....
I was offered £8,300.. what a cheek for a 15K car only a year old.
I know they can be picked up new cheaper, but how do they justify saying that the car has depreciated just under 50% from the RRP in 12 months.
Does anyone know the best dealer to use for part ex?

Tbh the problem is the fact you paid full RRP on your car with all those extras added on. Looking around online for dealerships that do special offers or buying from one of those online companies would have saved a LOT of money and maybe saved you from the big loss when it came to part ex-ing it.

I would think you could maybe sell privately for about £9,500 to £9,000 but part ex-ing you might not get a lot more than you've been offered.

I am just about to trade my car into a dealer for a new fiesta and have been offered £9300 for mine. will be a year old when i do the swap and will have a 11k miles on the clock. It too has most of the extras on it. I think they have done me a good deal as this is the 6th new car i have bought from them.

It's unlucky mate, but as Pink said, if you pay full price you are unfortunately set up for a big fall if you are going to sell up so quickly. Try having a word with the manager and explain it is unreasonable to offer so little given the amount you paid, maybe you will get it up to the £9k mark. Either way make sure you look around for the best price on a new car to avoid the same problem happening again. Let us know how you egt on, best of luck!

This is the reason i dont buy cars from new because even with all the optional extras, you are still guranteed to lose a few thousand the minute you drive it out the showroom and onto the road. I dont think i will buy many brand new cars in my lifetime but i bought my fiestaST in May, 05 plate, 24k on clock for about 9k. And you can see from then until now, how the prices have rapidly dropped.
