just seen this over on STOC...looks a bad one ...hope no one was hurt.......wonder if it had any mods that might have caused it?

Well the fire seems to be worst over the right hand side of the engine bay so maybe electrical (considering where the battery is)?

Its actually one reason why I've always thought about having a small extinguisher in my car.

No one seems to know who, what, where or why yet. I'd think from the number plate though, that's North West (i.e. Manchester?) but you never know, could be anywhere.

As you pointed out PinkRinse, its definately from the battery side as there is a lot of fire coming through the left front alloy wheel as well. Looks like it could be an electrical fault from the battery through excessive heat maybe? Or maybe he didnt install his K&N properly and no air was getting into the engine lol

The car looks like it has been dropped 50-60mil... which is stupid... so obviously it has been modified...

A 57 plate that i would think someone has been messing in the engine and caused the electrical fault and bye bye

It looks like the side stipes are the fading out type, or maybe just chared from the heat, but if they are the faded type the only person I know who does these is Dave at DMB who visits this site regularly.

Have you any ideas Dave, because i know you usually take a few pics from customers' cars who you have fitted stripes to.

P.S. If you do know who it is please don't post any names up. Contact them first if you can, and ask him/her if they would be kind enough to tell us all what happened.

My guess is fuel pipe has come off and sprayed onto exhaust manifold.

Ford will deffo want this car back to investgate.

lol ... 50-60mm? That car hasnt been lowered that much. That's as low as Eibachs or Spax springs can sit. Mine is only lowered 45mm and it looks as low as that. Only one guy has managed to lower his that much and he "modified" his coilovers but wont say how. Now that is silly.

The other theory is the carbon fibre battery cover you can get. The fit quality and the fact it can touch both terminals has been raised (privately).

You can also see some engine bay bling too apparently (airbox or rocker cover?).
