Hey All,

I'm doing my own Top Gear Scotty Test

I have drove my car pretty slow for a tank full of fuel and I managed to JUST get 360miles out of the tank (with using the screen heater which uses air con pretty much all the time).

Today I have filled my car up to the BRIM on exactly £50 in Fuel at 99.9 per/l

I drove the car home no more than 2k revs and 50mph all the way down the motorway from Uni which is 20miles each way. I was annoying a few people but I don't really care.

I'm going to keep doing this until my Petrol Light comes back on. What do you all think I will get out of my tank?

Thanks All

393 miles. I don't know how you cope keeping the revs that low!

I have to put the screen on as my car just mists up all the time and I can't see where I am going. I do turn it off as soon as it has de-misted... until the next time, 5 mins later.

Yes doing 2000rpm is just awful... going 50 feels like I am not going anywhere... atleast I have Mariah Carey to keep my company.

My car is just willing me to put my foot down and make the exhaust shout with the beefy rally chant that it gives out!!!

I am doing this for 3 reasons:

  • To see how much I can get out of a tank ig I drive so slow it hurts. I usually only get between 280-300
  • It's getting into winter now and it's time to slow down
  • I can't afford the petrol

    Right, here's my recalculated guess.

Cold mornings, dark evenings, along with bad weather means lights, heated windscreen and AC/Heater on.

Also, with the possibility of fuel cost going up since the last refil.

I now think more like.....345 miles.

It's very interesting tbh as I have no idea what i'm going to get myself... I could probably guess and be within about 10 miles of it... but I might suprise myself...

Maybe someone should do the same with their and see how much they can manage.

You have to accelerate REALLLLLYYY SLOWLY with barely touching the pedel... it kind of annoys people behind... but I don't care

OK then... I'm willing to take up the challenge. I'll fill her up first thing tomorrow and then see how I get on, even though I know it will be hard for the next couple of weeks!!

Just to note, driving around here I would normally get somewhere between 230 and 250 miles from a tank - from being full to the petrol light coming on - which equates to 37 litres of fuel used.

Excellent... have a go Chris but remember the rule, no going above 2000rpm unless you really have to up a hill.. but try not to.
