Hey All,

I'm doing my own Top Gear Scotty Test

I have drove my car pretty slow for a tank full of fuel and I managed to JUST get 360miles out of the tank (with using the screen heater which uses air con pretty much all the time).

Today I have filled my car up to the BRIM on exactly £50 in Fuel at 99.9 per/l

I drove the car home no more than 2k revs and 50mph all the way down the motorway from Uni which is 20miles each way. I was annoying a few people but I don't really care.

I'm going to keep doing this until my Petrol Light comes back on. What do you all think I will get out of my tank?

Thanks All

Good stuff!

I always keep telling myself that I'm going to go a little easier on the accelerator for a while, but it all just goes to pot when I see an open road and not a speed camera in sight!

23 MPG for the win!!

I'm always driving... I've ran up that 77k in 4 years... I did 25k in the first year... oops...

I'm keeping the milage as low as possible atm but I have to do 40miles each time I have to drive to Uni.

Atm it's looking qutie good but the Fuel Gauge is pretty random... between 85 and 100 miles it flew down.

I'm really only touching the throttle when going... I hope I get a good figure!!!

Ok then just a little update from myself. The first petrol bar went off this morning after doing 55 miles exactly. I know they don't go evenly, so won't get 500 miles out of it lol, but based on the way they normally go down(the first bar usually after about 40 something miles), then I can see that I might get up to 300 miles out of this tank. Will have to see.

Just an update from me also. It went down to half a tank on bang on 175 miles. The petrol light comes on when theres those two little bars left, so three bars to go. On the basis that the last three bars have gone for exactly 40 miles each, but that normally the last full bar seems to go a bit quicker than the rest, then I'm guessing that I should easily get more than the 230-250 that I'd normally get, but it could be touch and go as whether or not I get to break through the 300 mile barrier before the petrol light comes on.

Thats good news Chris... your tank is only 3/4 of mine so 300 for you would be great and 400 for me would be brilliant.

I have no idea if i will make that as i've had to do quite a bit of city driving and i keep getting held up in huge traffic jams every morning.

Here is my 300mile photo:

I have now completed the challange... my petrol light is about to come on in the next mile or so so i'll round the figure up.

What do you all think I managed?

Just an update from me also:

At 252 miles I went down to only having one full bar plus the two little bars at the bottom left. So I have already got more than I would normally get, but still touch and go as whether or not I will get through the 300 mile barrier. I will probably reach the end of my challenge in the next day or so(I think I'm right in saying that the petrol light comes on when there's only the two little bars left? I'm having doubts in my mind now as to whether it might be when only one of them is left), so will let you all know before long.

Scott, with regards to yours, I obviously don't know how far down the gauge it goes on a Focus before the light comes on, but I'll guess 412.

You have 50 miles left when the light comes on as well.
Well done guys!

Very good effort there mate, I'm sure you'll want to listen to her purring again in a couple of miles as soon as you're finished.
