I beleive that the ST170 is the same 0-60 top speed 130 so more or less the same stats but the Fiesta is more sure footed and nible, Just take him down the twisties and you will soon loose him.

That's the trouble with the Focus ST, the mpg is frankly very poor. From hearing what a lot of people have said, 22-25 (on a run) is the average for normal driving. But because the more power you have, you are invariably going to want to use it, then it does quickly drop even from that.
I know the comparison isn't exact, but Hugh (the owner and founder of this website) once said that he got 40mpg+ out his turbo'd Skoda Vrs, and even when thrashed it would average around 28mpg, even though the performance wasn't that dissimilar. Or as another example, the Astra VXR is faster but more economic. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but Ford have got something wrong here, and thats one of the reasons I'd never consider buying a Focus ST.

The Focus 170 has a rubbish gear box... did I say rubbish.... I meant soggy, crappy, no feeling and should never have been put in. The car though handles brilliant as it is a focus so no real issues with that. The Fiesta is a very nimple, agile car which a great gear box (if a little short for my liking) and great looks. I don't think these cars can be compared... they are from different classes of cars.
