Hi guys,

I've booked my car in for it's first service this weekend. Managed to get my induction removed just incase there were any issues with it affecting the warranty??

Is there any particular thing I should get them to check that they may not as standard? and do I need to remind them to stamp the book for the paintjob?

Any suggestions?!!!

Cheers all

Steve

well the first service should set you back about £150 ish and will include an oil and filter change along with topping up the relevent reserviors power steering, brake fluid, coolant, screen wash, also tread and condition check of tyres, grease the door hinges, check lights ect, along with a road test(make sure its not a spotty 18 year old that takes it out and revs the back side out of it)make sure they check the paintwork and bodywork and stamp the relevant section of the service book also.

So car is now back from the service! - £170 inc labour - not too bad I guess?! - they changed the air filter and topped up the oil, apparently my brake pads were 70% gone! - so that looks like there going to need replacing shortly.

Didnt stamp my book for the paint - but told them too and they did for free which was good! Only noticable change after the service - gear change was a lot smoother, but apart from that dont know what they really did!!!

My girlfriend always gets her mini s cleaned inside and out on her service - mine got nout!

Mine had it's first service yesterday, £160 and paint check was free. Although they said they could only just see the paint work and it was about time I washed her! Cheek! Must admit I felt a little embarrassed and washed her today

Do you HAVE to remove you'r mods for a SERVICE? I thought the service was just oil filter, top up the brake and power steering fluid if needed and then ask for £150 quid? Warranty issues should only be addressed if you need to get work done under warranty????? Or am i just bein thick?

i wasnt that impressed with my firstservice.

i think they split one of the cable tidy's to the bottom front right of the engine. although i cant prove it occured while they had it as i didnt look in the engine bay before i took it in.

cost, i nearly found out as they went to give me the service bill, then remembered i was ford protect and its paid for the first 3 years.

it then i am sure made a weird noise like a turbo the first time i drove it past 30mph although i didnt hear it after the first 15 minutes

they losened the handbrake feeling (im sure they either tighten or losen it so you feel something is done!)

to be honnest, 1 year done, 2100 miles on the clock and it felt worse after the service!

they were the closest, they own all 4 around me!
dagenham motors is too far (although they have questionaires and are worried about a bad score, even bribe people with tins of sweets on pick up i hear!)

They make good cars these days, a real shame the service at dealers is always so poor, even including prestige makes, it is without doubt the worst part of owning a car you can't fix for yourself.

I took my Mini back because the trim at the top of the windscreen came loose, the BMW service mangager apologised for it taking so long, saying they had to bond it in, two days later the new one blew off, no sign of any glue. The way they lie to you and treat you like an idiot is the worst aspect.
