Got a bit of a strange problem
My pc has been playing up and is on its last legs.
I have got a slave hard drive that has stopped letting me access it. Cannot even see it in the "my computer" screen. Strangley i can see it on the bios and the device manager. Anybody got any ideas how i can fix it or has the hard disk died? There is power getting to it and you can hear it spinning up. Also the ribbion cable is fine as i swapped it over to my master and that worked fine. I need the disk as it has all my photo editing software and most of my college stuff on it

sounds a bit odd mickey... have you checked the cables are secured? Try it on another ide/sata slot on the m/board otherwise, just in case that is playing up, oould also try a different cable - I am guessing it's ide if your machine is fairly old?

You could always try the drive as a last resort in someone elses machine to recue the data. It doesn't sound like it has died from what you have said - there is hope!!

Are there any problems showing when you view the HD in the device manager? Has the drive been accidently disabled for some reason?

The drive shows in the device manager. When i go into the computer managment and look at the hard disks. My secondard disc is unallocated. Any ideas how i can allocated it with making a new partition?

It sounds spacked out. If you can't get it going Micky, send it up to me and i'll give it a good bashing to try and get it working and recover your files.
