In all of the press so far on the RS the Ford bloke has said that they will design the RS so that people can easily mod the engine and bodywork.

I'm no fan of Max Power jobs (£50 worth of plastic doesn't improve the work of a skilled car designer IMO and the setup is specifically designed for the given power) so if I get one I'll be keeping it showroom spec.

How about you?

Mind you I suppose it depends how much power it gets from the off.

IMO the design of the car will be subtley different to the basic spec. This will compliment the car but should be left at that...

With a few (very expensive) exceptions, applying 'airfix' kits to the bodywork only serves to cheapen the car IMO in the same respect that applying stone-cladding to the front of your house causes its value to drop...

Each to their own though, but if it required ad-hoc customistations, the body style would be the same as a base spec vehicle when sold..

We still dont know the figures for the RS so no point tempting fait already.

I think insurance will be enough, let alone adding mods to it.

Standard me thinks.

I like standard personally, although I always upgrade to a stainless steel exhaust.

Tempting fate?? Nahh!

I like the look of the exhaust and i think it will make a real nice sound... no saxo boy crap but good old honest power shooting out the back.

But i might be tempted to buy an exhaust end from ford to match it.

sorry, but I have to be different, I would attack the car with modifications, however they would be sutble, I really like a new set of rear lights, I love to see a dual exhuast system at the rear (humm sounds like my photoshop...) not sure about the smoothing, perhaps some colour coding in certain places. Depending on whats inside the engine an induction kit, and If they dont sort the headlights out then for the time being I'd go for the Morrette style headlights...... oh and tints if it iant already got em.

Think thats it for now lol

I just really enjoy making the car look different than its supposed to (each to their own eh!)

I seriously doubt these cars will be anything near affordable to the general public. Hopefully this'll keep them out of the hands of any max power heads.
Elderly enthusiasts (or stupidly wealthy young ones) should be able to capitalise on this easy modify-ability (is that a word?). Having grown up with XR2s I can only hope this new generation of cars are as easy to work on as their great grandaddys were. 'No Balls' Ford are bound to tame the engine down a bit so it shouldn't be long before folk start making serious power with them.
