Just fitted ones of these to my car, the fuel economy has dropped by 9mpg driving like a nun and the when the car is started from cold there a terrible smell of petrol from the back of the car. Got my mate to check over everything as I dont thinks he's owned a car without an IK on it.
Any thoughts anyone.

I'm sure i've read somewhere that it takes at least a tank of fuel before the ECU can adjust to the change in air intake? Maybe this is why you are seeing reduced economy.

Thanks for the reply. Thats waht I was thinking but iam half way through the second tank. With the smell of pertol at the back of the car surley the car is getting to much air and adding to much fuel or not getting enough air so the combustion is being effected.

Yes it will take about 500 miles for the ECU to adapt the fuelling and timing to suit the air filter.
Just make sure that the joints are sealed correctly though, spray WD40 around the joints while the engine is ticking over, if the tone of the engine changes then its leaking.

It means that air is being drawn into your fuel mixture 'unfiltered', thats why it is called an air 'Filter' .

A leak can draw all sorts of nasties into your engine. Even a small bit of fly sh*t can become trouble .

I know that, just dont get the WD40 round the joints bit, ive never had a bad joint on a K+N there always a tight fit. If you squirt WD40 near a K+N it will cause the engine to make a different tone as its trying to ignite it
