WELL DONE MANDY!!! Sounds like you did really well there, especially with 'Old Bill' trying to get home early, . You made a decision to stop and let him past, well done . Sometimes when driving, instant decisions are paramount, your first one gets my vote 100% ; . And never ever worry about how much trafic you are holding up behind you, the more you think about them the more flustered you become. Just take your time in these circumstances, and your confidence will grow, along with experience.

Well Done Mandy... i'm really proud that you managed to get behind the wheel and do all these things. As Kevin said, don't let anyone make you nervous. If a learner stalls infront of me... I just hold back and wait until they are able to get going again... once they are moving... i get the revs up and rocket past them You did indeed use the push and pull method... a great way of learning this properly is by getting a plate in your hands and practicing... I will have to get you doing this on the ferry The 307 would be quite a nice car to drive but I'll give you full credit for stepping in a car of equal size to my focus and driving it... You will have problems with reversing around a corner though due to the lack of visibility through the back window... I'll have to teach you a tip for that Lets hope he has a good model with electic mirrors. I bet you can't wait until your next lesson. Fancy having your first lesson in the dark... it's hard enough as it is... 200% for effort and guts for driving a big car, in the dark at rush hour...

Oh boy this brings back memories! Seems like years and years ago I had my lessons now. I'm sure you'll do great, it really helps if you have a great instructor too. My instructor, Karl, was a really good teacher I'd recommend him to anyone in the north west - Grovesner School of Motoring. Although I do remember, the very last lesson before my test he got mad at me and told me straight, something along the lines of - "This is totally unacceptable. You're going to fail next week, you do know that" Haha, harsh or what. It was deserved though, I just was getting really nervous and started making beginner mistakes. However I went for my exam and felt dead relaxed. I ended up passing first time with only 2 minors, oh yeah rock on!!

I'm glad you were... I was very very nervous, even if I didn't show it much on the outside... apart from the obvious shakey hand syndrome... I was able to disguise that with a firm grip of the steering wheel. I actually started having a huge conversation about something 5 mins into the test... I totally relaxed then and it was like driving my dad around... just I had to do 4 manouvers... turn in the road, reverse around a corner, parallel park and the emergency stop.
I passed 1st time with 4 minors... 2 for signaling... which was b0llocks. 1 for not going around the edge of a roundabout in a chavvy housing area (which has broken glass round about the edge which I didn't want to go over) and the other was for something else that just was randomly ticked.
I'm not too bothered... I passed and thats all that matters. I got home and took the L plates off my old Foci and drove 100 miles

I think the day anyone passes their driving test is one of the most memorable days in their life . I was 17 and can remember my instructor telling me the day before my test, that if i had an old gray haired chap he's a real stinker and if he picks up on any error you make you will fail, 'Thanks alot!' i thought , but you should be o.k, he doesn't work Thursdays, (the day of my test), you might get a middle aged lady and you will be fine. Test day. Who walks into the waiting room and calls my name out, yes, an old gray haired bloke. In fact, believe it or not, that helped me because strait away i thought i would fail and so all my nerves went. After driving passed a school with all the pupils spewing out and a spotty 16 year old doing a 'wheelie' passed me on his crappy 50cc scrambler, the test instructor said.., "I'm pleased to tell you that you have passed, please sign this, press hard because it's in triplicate" Will never foreget those words. Passed 1st time
