when I come back to the forum, this can happen several times with the same message, is there anyway of stopping this?

When you exit the forum, press "log out" instead of simply changing to another web address or closing the browser.

By closing the browser the cookies between the server and the site get a little mixed up and this results in the "read" messages bulbs not being correct.

If it does happen... simply log out and log back in and all will be corrected

Another way you cacn do it to save logging in and out all the time is to go to your 'My Home' page and select the mark all as unread button.

yes that's a better way, I guess you meant mark all as read.
