I'm not sure how old your ST is, but any since spring last year they have come with an mp3 player connection socket as standard(before then was just an option) next to the gearstick, so you can just plug any mp3 player straight in.

Oh I get you know. With regards to the Sony system, I know that people have certainly put in the Focus Sony stereo in their Fiestas before now:

In fact since late last year, new Fiesta STs have come with a Sony one similar to the Focus ones anyways.

A little bit more information...

The model number for the Sony mp3/cdplayer/stereo is CDX-FS307JD. There's one for sale on ebay here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-FORD-CDX-FS30...1QQcmdZViewItem

According to that, it apparently costs £650 if bought new from Ford.

You will be able to fit it yourself as the connections are identical to the existing one, but you may have to pay the dealer to upgrade your CAN network for the cluster display and the GEM module for the Bluetooth functionality. The stereo will work as soon as you connect though. People who've had a Sony one put in in the past have said that it will cost about an hours labour for a Ford dealer to do this.

Why is that seller selling it so cheaply? I'm a bit suspicious about that.

Also - Does that Focus CD player fit the Fiesta ST perfectly well, or is there a wee bit of jiggery pokery?

I must say I really dislike the Fiesta ST CD player. It looks really naff and a bit dated. I'm very interested in buying a Focus ST CD player...looks really nice.

You can now get the Gen2 sony cd unit as a factory option on the Fiestas (now standard on the ST) so yes it will fit without any problems. Don't know about wiring though. I have the new sony unit in my ZS and it is miles better than the 6006 changer i had in both my STs. The 'premium' speakers also help a lot

its all about how it sounds wth good bass and treble to me its fine(6006cdc)and remember its a six disc changer(the sony unit is one disc)i like mine and the looks, the quality and clarity is excellant when the volume is on or above no 12.

Is it possible to contact Ford and ask them to replace the 6 CD changer and purchase that new Sony CD player instead? Or does it just come as standard with 07 model STs? There must be an option to buy these units separate.

I don't see any reason why not. I can't find them for sale on places like FordParksUK and TeamTorquesteer, but there's certainly no harm in getting in touch with a dealership and asking.

Thanks Chris...might give my local Ford a ring next week in that case (or I may just pop in). Will let you know what they say!

Sounds like an expensive way of doing it mate! I would just get one off ebay or something, or visit the scrapyard and see if they've removed any. Ford are going to charge bucks, you'd be better off with an aftermarket one for what they will charge you!

I've just had a quick check and the one I posted above seems to be the only one of the Focus Sony cd/mp3 stereo on ebay at present, unless I've missed something. I don't know for how long it has been fitted in the Focus ST, but like you say maybe there might be the odd one knocking around.

Both front and rear are 5" x 7".
