Wales Run 1 - Sunday 20th April 2008

155 miles
10 Stages

Meeting points
Start at Magor Services Jct 23A off M4 0930am
Chepstow at 10am
Abergavenny 11am

Please feel free to join us on the first day run of 2008. Simlar format to last year, mixed cars, nice country drive out, which you can join or leave at any point as long as you inform me so I dont think you are lost etc. Stopping for for pub lunch. We are all very friend dont bite and welcome any like minded people to join us no matter what car you drive.

Click Gallery to see pictures from last years meets.

Click here to view photoshow of last year.

The subject of safety... I will remind those attending that we do not condone/endorse racing and we fully expect attendees to be law-abiding and to drive responsibly. If you want to drive like an idiot and rag the nuts off your car then please take it elsewhere and leave the rest of us to enjoy the event!

Depending on the event it is quite possible we'll be attracting a lot of attention so please respect other road users and avoid excessive noise/speed in public and built-up areas. Also worth bearing in mind is the fact that there will potentially be lots of bikers, cyclists and horse-riders out sharing and enjoying the roads with us. You know the drill... be extra vigilant and keep checking your mirrors. Please keep it sensible.

Click here for full safety notice.

I'm not sure how many of you on this forum are interested in this driving meet however to keep you up to date..

Due to the popularity of this meet we have had to revise the route and meeting points slightly in the interest of public safety and practicality (for attendees and the public in general).

Does driving make you hungry?

If so then you'll be glad to hear that the South Wales Run 3 has a planned/reserved cafe stop for food and drink around 13:30. It's a lovely cafe and the meals are delicious and very well priced. Especially the cakes... However, and this is important, we need to pre-order the meals in advance such that the cafe can prepare for our arrival and we will also require a deposit to secure your place in the cafe.

Listen up as this next bit is important!

The deposit required is £5and needs to be paid byFriday 11th April, 2008.

Once your bum is on the seat in the cafe we will give you that £5 back. Why? Simple... It is quite possible that the meal you order is less than £5 so it would be unfair of us to hold on to your money. However, if someone were to order a meal and then not turn up then Rebel would have to pay the cost of that meal - which is why we are asking for a 'refundable' £5 deposit. If someone orders a meal, pays a deposit and then does not turn up then sadly they will lose their deposit.

I wish you all the best with your meet. Unfortunatley I cannot attend due to University commitments but hope it's a really nice day.

I am wondering why you are asking for £5 deposite... surely people can simply select if they wish to eat or not without being forced to? They might wish to eat seperately and would lose their £5 with you for no reason?

Let us know how you get on and adding pics after would be a nice idea

Thank you Scotty I'm sure we will all have a lovely time as we usaully do..

To answer your question on the £5 refundable deposit (which is on the information page click here)

We need to book the cafe and reserve seats hence the refundable £5 deposit, plus this is a very good way of keeping an eye on numbers attending this meet due to safety and keeping people that say they "will do things but dont" away..

You may or may not be aware however a lot of planning goes into the meets I do.. We do new routes so people dont get bored of doing the same routes. We do detailed maps with photo pictures and sat nav downloads. The route is done in stages to give rest breaks, fuel stops, photo shots, meal stops and meeting up points. Dummy runs are also carried out to check the route is suitable. This isnt done on the fly and believe me a lot of time money and effort goes into what we do.

I sure will post up a link to the pictures.. We have our own Gallery please feel free to take a look and see for yourself what we do click here

Would be nice to see a few more ST owners as a we have a couple of members who have just became ST owners.

Fair enough... there are many people like that... I know from my own experience

I think this statement is very unfair tbh...

I've personally planned many a meet, show and event on this site.

We have booked up and planned 2 week driving holiday to france for a week and spain for a week with 2 villas, ferry crossings and all the driving issues we have to face also...

I respect how much planning it takes and how much effort you go to but please respect that you are most deffinatley not the only one who does these things.

As I mentioned above... Good Luck with the trip.

You have clearly taken me the wrong way Scotty at no point was I saying you or your club dont do this or dont appreciate the planning that is involved in these meets/events..

I was just pointing out I am not one of these people that just find a meeting point and say lets go for a drive and not have a planned route etc, and that you and your club members can rest asure this meet has been very well thought of and planned out..

Sorry if you feel i have stepped on your toes I just thought that maybe some of the club members here would like to join this event as well as some of the other events I have done in the past... very sorry you have taken my words in the wrong context.

We have a stand at Castle Combe for the Action Day on the 19th April (no doubt like Ford Fiesta ST) if you are going please feel free to pop over say hello and have a look at what we do, we are all very friendly and helpful group..

Thanks Lynda

Thanks for your reply,

Unfortunatley we do not attend the show in question. We go to FITP - May, Ford Fair - July, RSOC Day, August and might possibly attend TRAX, September.

I cannot speak for my members, they have free mind to attend or not but I can assure you that you have give them every possible chance to see your meet and if they come, don't come i'm sure you'll still have a nice time.
