Err, I wouldn't exactly say we the sun was shining all day kev, but you're right it did stop bucketting down as soon as we'd got it up and did stay dry for the rest of the day.
Thinking about it, it's maybe a curse of the first day of the summer event. Last year we obviously had it emptying down on the morning of the RSOC Day, just a couple of weeks after we'd been baked in sunshine at Ford Fair.
The year before we had the horendous day at Castle Combe for the Rally Day. First thing in the morninbg it had seemed as though it was going to quite nice, so we turned up in t-shits and shorts, and then the heavens promptly opened and we got drenched, even when trying to hide under some trees. It then dried up, we went back to the cars and got changed - and then a few hours later down came the rain again!! We tried to hide in a building site to shelter, until security came and threw us out. Oh, and poor Micky almost didn't get his car out of the muddy fields.
Finally, going way back now. Back in 2005 at the summer event in the Cotwolds, my first ever memory of a meet is arriving at the campsite and seeing this drowned rat in a Villa shirt coming over to say hello to me, helping to put the tent up, and then realising that we'd left the flysheet oustide in the rain to get soaked.
All three times though, we've had really nice weather afterwards though. I'm prepared to have it pouring down heading to Dover and possibly going through France if it means that we get baked in sunshine for the rest of the summer meet this year!
