Im sure i posted this yesterday but cant seem to find the thread, maybe i didnt fully post it (although im sure i did), if it was deleted could one of the mods tell me why. Cheers.

Anyway, i found previous threads on fuel consumption but looking for some specifics. I do around a 25 mile round trip to work each day (4 days a week ) and one of my concerns about buying the ST will be how much petrol it eats. So what i want to ask everyone is:

How much does it cost to fill up your tank from empty to full?
How many miles does this cover? (just an average, although can give best and worst case too).

I've just double checked and you definitely haven't had any posts removed - you must not have hit send or something.

In answer to your question, it takes 37 litres to fill the tank when the petrol light comes on - depending on how much petrol is round where you are will equate to between £37 and £39.

Normally I get 240-270 out of that, but I have got over 310 before on one occasion.

It costs £40ish to fill to the brim from when the fuel computer is saying 50 mile to empty.
I do dual carriageway and motorway driving with a round trip to work of 28 miles.
I am averaging 30.7 MPG at an average speed of 32MPH.
I get anywhere between 220-250 miles before the light comes on.

This is the main reason why I have oredered a 1.6 TDCi Fiesta!!

Cheers both, i think i must have clicked submit, but then not submitted after checking it.

Hmmm, so if i do roughly 100 miles a week round trip to work and didnt drive anywhere else (this wouldnt happen but for the sake of argument) it wouldnt be too bad......

Just concerned with few people saying they sold theirs for this reason......

its like any normal car to be honest, if you know you are going to be driving it alot and especially work related, get a diesel because you will save money in the long run but if you won't use it often then by all means get a nice car like the ST because as long as you drive it sensibly, the fuel consumption is not too bad as people make it out to be

The cheapest around here is 105.9 for standard unleaded. Some of them are as high as 108.9!

i filled up the other day near me £41.25 for a full tank, and the petrol light had only come on! expensive stuff petrol!

Petrol near me is 104.9. Although there is an Asda about 10 miles away which was 99.9(last time we went past about a week and a half ago!)

Anyway, i usually drive 'gently' so mine is pretty good on fuel. (Computer is showing at around the 36mpg at the minute).

Petrol round me is around 101.9 was 99.9 a week or so ago but jumped up again!

If im honest i tend to drive quite like im always in a rush alot of the time, will that really hit me in the pocket with the ST? My current Focus gets around 370 miles with a full tank (around £50.), sometimes 400 miles if im careful and let it run right down.

I pay the same and cost me £39 to fill the tank with about 30 miles left last week. I get about 270 miles out of a tank doing mainly motorway driving.

while on this topic, when filling up is the tank deceptive both times I have filled up now I have not been able to get more than 35L in the tank. Is there a second light or dose it start flashing when there is 5L left of some thing ?

Not sure exactly what you mean. I think that sounds fairly normal.
The light comes on orange at 50 and 25 miles remaining, and goes to red when there's ten miles left, if I remember correctly!

That's not recommended though

Here is my figures. Got the fiesta St 2 weeks ago. Averaging 25.6 MPG on the clock (a gallon of petrol is around £4.50 @ £1 per litre) I have done 750 miles and filled up 3 times at £35 per go. Averaging for me at £57.50 per week at 375 miles per week. Thats a full tank of petrol getting me 250 miles. I have a heavy right foot as well. Im not so sure how accurate the MPG and DISTANCE TO EMPTY is on the ST. When i fill up the distance to empty says 233.

In theory your case should mean that you get to work and back say 100 miles per week assuming 25 is a round trip so £20 of petrol should cover you and give you more which is not to bad at all. I also have to say that the ST is great on the motorway and if you drive correctly and keep an eye on the MPG then you could get an average of 50mpg on the motorway. I think this is correct cos i went a long journey and drove at optimum speeds and managed to get the MPG to stay at 50 which is great and the petrol seemed to hold well cos the gage didnt move.
