Just want to know how much people are paying to have a K&N added onto their insurance?

I phoned up my insurers today who told me it would be and extra £89! I thought this sounded a bit steep so wondered what everyone else is paying.

I'm not really sure i trust the lad that i spoke to cos he asked me to tell him what it was and what it did!

(I'm 25, female, and insured with Direct Line)

Would be for the year.

Lisa... When i tried to insure my 18" BK 604 Alloys for my Focus when I was 18 my insurance company "budget" refused to do it. I cancelled my insurance and went with Norwich Union which covered them and actually cost me £100 cheaper than my other quote. Only cost £25 cancellation fee.

I'd just insure with someone else if you can't get things like this covered. It's hardly like adding a turbo and upping from 150bhp to 300bhp...

I love the nosie it makes and it does pick up a little more with it on too & it certainly makes a bigger difftrence when it gets hotter as the air going into the engine is cold not heated up by the filter sitting on top of the engine like the factory system....but you have to deside is the insurance cost worth it

Thats a little suprising. They insured my 18" alloys for free... shows you that they change their mind like the wind blows.

I agree with you thought Dave... it totally depends if its worth the extra money?

It all just depends on who your insurer is, and what they're thinking at any gievn time. When I changed my exhaust - which wasn't an increase in power, just a different backbox - I had to pay another £30.

I think the K&N is worth buying but if the insurance company is charging silly money, I wouldn't bother.

My insurance wanted 6.9% of the premium for no more than 10%hp (£45) and wanted to load my excess up to £600 from £400. I told them to bollocks.

don't see why they want to increase insurance so much for such a little mod

Just worked it out that they want about 19% of my premium to add the k&n. I'll shall be telling them that unless they knock that figure down, or take it off all together i shall be cancelling my insurance. Only 3 months into it so it's not too bad.

Yep sure is i said i would move my insurance to another company if they did not lower the cost which was £40 first time round, so it just goes to show that all they want to do is make even more money by adding silly charges to your premium.
