Hi welcome to the site! It all sounds good, I only went for the option of privacy glass.

I don't think ESP is a necessity - any lack of grip can be put down to the standard tyres - great in the dry warm weather, not so good in the wet/cold. The car handles a lot better once you have some decent tyres on it!

I changed my front tyres to Toyo proxes T1 R's and I thought my ESP had Stopped working Massive improvement over the Pirellis in the wet.

Countrary to the general opinion above, I actually think the Pirelli P Zero Nero are best in the wet and was in fact hoping for better performance in the dry. I was able to try them on a very wet day around Spa and if you look at their design they are quite heavily grooved. The perfect tire compromise does not exist. you either get very grooved tires which will be great in the wet, or little grooved tires which will perform better in the dry. If you get soft compound they will be good everywhere but will wear fast. When you change tires, the most vivid impressions you have on their performance is when you last drove the car on them. Naturally if you are changing tires in 90% of the cases it will be because they are worn and once you changed them you set off on a new set, it's only natural then that the gap in performance seems substantial and in favour of the new set.

Welcome to the site Jon

Thanks Mandy.

Oh, on the subject of tyres, I had Continental Sportcontact (good overall) then Maragoni Zeta Lineas (good in dry, HIDEOUSLY dangerous in the wet) then the best of all, Avon ZZ3's. Very recommended.

i disagree with nick02 on the p zero's being good in the wet. even when my tyres were brand spankers, they wouldnt give good grip in the damp never mind full on rain. i cant hit a roundabout or tight bend with confidence when its wet but in the dry its the exact opposite, i have never lost grip yet!

Nick I know what you mean when you say opinions probably are based mainly on the last time you drove the car and that they may be running low on tread but honestly, the tyres are no good on standard roads at least in the UK! I think with the harder suspension and the road conditions they just aren't up to it, certainly don't inspire confidence! Maybe on a smooth track they would be a lot better. My ZZ3s are infintely better. Best tyre I've had. transformed the car

Yes, the ZZ3's transformed the VERY heavy fronted pendulem which is the VRS Fabia to a car that CAN actually go around rounabouts in the wet. That's without going into a hedge at anything over 30mph.

think it does cos a guy who own a polo remap at 155 bhp say those pirelly are the best tyre he fit on his car and there 16" alloys and hes not the only one so maybe 17" are too big for the ST especially on the wet
