hi
while i try and find my perfect car, and can i use this opportunity to thank everyone for the advice given on previous threads, just wondered how many owners have gone the extra mile to get a personnel plate and have you brought it because its your name or relates to your car.
i was bought a plate a couple of years ago with my initials DCF and beinging a thunderbirds fan bought a plate with connections to that and thats currently on rentention.
then i saw a plate that almost spells out my full name while remaining legal and thats on rentention as well, too many plates and not enough cars lol
interested to see what others chose, DVLA must have made a mint over the years

hi
car and plate look good together, on my fiesta (sorry only a freestyle at moment) it was made in legal 3d and really stands out, thats one letter 2 number and initials

i take it you have never had any problems for the mis spacing, I saw a plate the other day on a range rover which was EN52AND or EN62AND but written in script without spaces therefore the reason for me not being too sure.

i was looking at buying b20lst and turning it into B2.0L ST oblivously meaning 2litre st only £250 which i thought was good!! and no stealing my idea lol

Mine signifys my nickname which is part of my surname. This has currently just gone onto retention to get ready to go on my ST next week at some point. My surname is Booloozian my nickname is Miss Boo:  21st birthday present from my family & other half Sorry if its too big....

I looked at a couple just before i got my new '08  not long ago.... ST08 KEV = £1000 ST08 KGW...my initials = £1000 Both have gone now, but even so, too much £'s anyway. Loving the as it is.

Guys as a serving police officer i wouldnt advise putting up your reg numbers and where you live for all to see.
The reason i say this is because criminals normaly have to at least drive round looking for a number plate on a similiar vehicle to the 1 they have stolen so that they can clone the plate so if the police run the reg through it will at least look like it belongs on the right car,and ofc so that the tickets from the speed cameras come to you and when they drive off at petrol stations the old bill will come knocking on your door.
What you are doing here is giving them a a list of reg numbers to use for future use,may seem a bit extreme but its what happens out there,you need to protect yourself as much as possible nowdays.
I posted this on a diff post about private plates by accident (if you wonder why its in 2 posts)

And just a word of caution (not wanting to be a party pooper  ) the traffic police are starting to clamp down on non standard reg plates due to the fact that the new cameras most forces use which are called ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) work better when the reg plates are totaly standard. These cameras are becoming the bread and butter of the police force and motorways and the traffic cops use them 24/7 in their cars so think long and hard about spending your hard earned cash on a plate,altering it around to spell what u bought it for only to have the old bill come along and make you put it back standard,they can even remove the plates from you and force dvla to resell them at your loss if they catch you with them back on the car after they told you to change them back to standard. They do and will do it,im old bill and my private plate was standard but i had moved 1 letter about 5cm over so you could tell it was supposed to be a initial on its own and the traffic officers in my station saw it and made me put the normal ones on.

Yes, I agree.
It's very easy to get a little carried away with the trend now for 'private' looking plates. As mentioned above, there's a reason for standardised plates especially ANPR.
It's where to 'draw the line' and that's why there's strict laws for plates. If you live in the City, there's way more chance of the Police stopping you than in a rural area.

Thanks for your post STrange but in 4 1/2 years of the site being up and thousands of pictures of posts with peoples reg plates on. I've never heard of anyone's plate being cloned. If they wanted to clone a plate they would make life easy for themselves and add a random one they stole from another car or simply go down to the dealership and copy one. Logging onto a site and searching through is too much like hard work to these scum... they could even log onto google images and find one that way. A 10 second search and i found a plate to use: http://www.parkers.co.uk/imagecache/file/630/archive/Ford/Fiesta%20ST/DSC02207.JPGI take my car to shows and thousands of people are there... they could quite easily be there taking photos of cars they want to copy plates of. I just think sometimes we can think things through a little too much. With regards to my plate. I got away with it for 2 years but then got pulled over and asked for it to be changed back. I changed it back to S20 TTV... It still looks fine and i can use the others as show plates

i havnt got a plate, but last tuesday when i was sealing the deal at my local ford dealer, the salesman showed me a list of reg's to look at and choose one for my st, and lucky enough there was one with my initials on! (o8 MWP) i was chuffed to bits! lol
