Hi.

I've had a Fiesta Zetec for a few years, now got myself an 05 Fiesta ST (collecting this Saturday)

I've noticed a few posts on various sites discussing the factory fitted alarm that comes with the ST - sounds very worrying (really silent being the main one)

My question is have you lot simply installed a complete new system i.e toad, sigma, clifford? If so what can you recommend, cheaper the better but obviously not rubbish.

Also can you not simply fit the alarm sounding device with a more louder one?

As the sensors and wiring are already setup in the car, I'm thinking it'll look odd having the original sensors, plus another set for the new alarm system - so surely fitting a louder siren can be done.......can it?

Any tips would be good thanks - I'm not going to go fancy on exterior looks either with stripes, badges n stuff. Less attention the better, I'd really hate to have my nice new ST keyed or smashed up by some jealous teenager.

Thanks

I personally had a Clifford G5 650 fitted its nice and loud and has warn away etc...was not that cheep and i did have auto window closers added.....the main pain is o have 2 remotes as the fitter could not make the clifford work the ford double lock so i have to set the ford then the clifford and unset in reverse which i often get wring and the clifford goes off.

There are fitters out there that have worked out the double lociking but not many of them! i belive the toad is a good value system with good protection.

If you mess with the ford sounder it will invalidate its CAT1 class unfortunatly which is mad when u are making it better but hey thems the rules with CAT1 systems!

The original sounder cannot be improved (infact i recon you can fall asleep under the car without it waking you up, its that quiet) you will have to go for an additional alarm and probably end up with two fobs (original and upgrade)
If you 'mess' with the original you will alter the cat1 catagory,so best to have an additional one of your choice as a back up system.
You can still fit what you want as long as the original is not altered to retain your cat1.

I'm booked in for a fitting this Saturday - Toad alarm for £199 including fitting. Not sure what one yet, will discuss it on Saturday but I'm guessing it's the AI606.

This sound about right? Also any extras you lot would recommend adding (if they can be added)

update - decided on the S32, no second keyfob and works with the existing ford key to unlock/turn off alarm - lock/set alarm
