Mmmm, not sure that's genuine??

By the time E reg came along the Tickford had long gone but it does look the bizz so it may have been one that was lying around or late.

The last Tickfords were hybrids as the spec was all over the place.

Some cars were converted back to standard and sold back to Ford then sold as normal 2.8i Specials.

I notice it has the Walnut dash/console but it does not have the re-trimmed door casings (these may have been stolen)

It has got the white 280 alloys on (which the last ones had) but the last 5 "run-out" Tickfords were pearlesant white not solid white, though he may have had it re-sprayed.

If you were going to spend that much you would need to get intouch with Aston Martin who would be able to give you the information on it.

It's £2000 too expensive as well. I'd pay no more than £11000 for that.

For me... that car is very ugly... I'd have a Escort Cossie or RS500 instead.

No, I mean it actually IS the same one - check the registration plates. Yet on one page it's advertised as being from 1988, and on another it's saying it was registered in August 1987.

A Tickford is faster than a standard Cossie by the way. And was better equipped and better to drive. And was £4000 cheaper at the time?
But doesn't stop as well, Capri brakes (even Tickford's with rear discs) are terrible.

That was the main reason Ford quietly stepped away from the Tickford project and denied it any more Marketing money as they didn't want the same to happen to the Sierra Cosworth that happened to the XR4i.

The XR4i was tested back to back with the Capri 2.8 injection special and the special killed it hands down in every dept.

The XR4i was then a bit of a flop as people bought 2.8is (until the Escort RS Turbo arrived) which is why SVE were given the job of hurriedly converting the XR4i to the XR4x4.

Though there was one good thing, if the Sierra Xr4i had been a good car then the Capri would have dies at the end of 1984 model year (when the LHDs died) not carried on until 87 model year.

The Capri made Ford a hell of a lot of profit in the 1980's as they were 95% retail sales with little discount whereas the Sierra was 95% fleet sales with masses of discount to shift metal.

the tickford owners take it all very seriously too. i worked at this blokes house in stoke a few years ago and he had just brought the house new, had the double garage fully insulated, carpeted, central heated and a nice heavily secured roller shutter door put in as well as a rediculous alarm system! the 2 cars he had were proper minters, protective covers over them and went places on trailers!
