this capri was faster than which cossie? do u have the performance figure by anychance?

The original standard three door Sierra (Not 500) and sorry it's the through gears acceleration that it's quicker, not the 0-60 as it had tonnes of torque.

0-60 in the Cossie was 6.1
0-60 in the Tickford was 6.3

Just to help/ correct a few things here on the Tickford as I was a two-times owner and Ford designer at the time and author of the new book on Ford coupes, XR, RS, and ST models. Here's the book The Cars you Always Promised Yourself

The Tickford was quicker than a Cossie and I’d say handled almost as well, arguably better on the limit. The chassis was significantly upgraded and I think I can say it handled the power but it really needed a skilled hand. Although I’ve written on the development Tickford (and all the other XR, ST, RS) cars I’m not blind to it and having run both I’d say Cosworth the better car but the Tickford more charming. The brakes were OK with their upgrades – I added RS200 four-pots to mine but again, Cosworth would beat it. They were certainly better than a regular Capris!

To some details to help guide a few points. There were leftover unconverted cars, but they were sold “as is” and were not returned to Ford – some say Tickford Capri in the logbook despite being standard. The prototype had walnut door inlays and just a few had them as options – they were never standard. The specs were “fluid” in that as a bespoke car they were often different – later cars based on the Injection Special didn’t have leather door trims, just the fancy dash which was a shame.

Happy to help on any questions – take a look at my book and you’ll see the sort of stuff I know (or not).

Hi Steve,

Thank you for taking the time to sign up and reply to the topic. That was really interesting. I know from Nick and being on the FB page your book is the ultimate! I will get myself a copy going forwards.
