I never bid for things on ebay until the last 10 or even 5 seconds, hopefully you'll have a lot of frantic bidding in the last 2 mins

I'm presuming you've tried autotrader? Their were four on autotrader in the last 2 weeks at just under £7000, and they didn't last long on there. 05 reg with 40-50k miles, I always use whatcar valuation for accurate costs

I agree there.
It's always the same when you sell your 'pride & joy'. The only ones who never lose out are the manufacturer and the finance houses.

The problem with autotrader is, I listed my last car there and I got nothing but scammers with fake cheques

They ring you and tell you they will pay you a bit more money with a cheque... and then send their collection guy with a vehicle to transport your car away. You are then to pay for his services when he arrives out of the money from the cheque. He takes your car away, and the money then the cheque bounces in the bank a few weeks later, so your left with no money, no car and youve paid them to scam you. I had a Yaris T-Sport before my ST, and I got 6 fake cheques from autotrader.

Surely no one in their right mind would let the car go without clearance of the cheque first.???? NO ONE CAN BE THAT STUPID..

Well apparently... according to t'internet when I read up on it.

The cheques clear in your account... but then they get reported against a few weeks later ???

and you need to refund the money... so if youve spent it... your buggered.

There loads of forums about it on the web

You would think so... Usually the person pays them £100 deposit and the total payment in a cheque and then once it's cleared the person goes back and collects the car.

I don't really understand this... the bank would not allow this to happen and you could issue a fraud case against them... I've done this before with a company that wouldn't refund my money.

Why are you selling it so cheap... you are probably not getting any bids because people think its a scam... push up your starting price by atleast £1000.

Like I said in an earlier post, if you take it to a dealer they will surely give you at least £6k for it? I would try that before ebay??

Hi, I've been reading this thread and noticing the market change for ST's. I really hope the bottom hasnt fallen out as I've only just bought mine, the only good thing is that I got quite a good deal, but I will still loose money if I sell it.

I think whats happening is due to the increased running costs of them, the fuel and tax is the main reason, and this is down to the 'excellent' job the Government are doing of theiving of us. We're going to see this happening more with 'hot hatches' in general as they try and tax us.

Actually... I think they DO want people to have large cars. If everyone was tootling around in small hybrid cars then they'd have to think up new ways to tax people.

Does Ford still give free 'pipe & slippers' with the Mondeo ?
