3 points - SP30 doing 42 in a 30, caught on a gatso (queen elizabeth bridge/flyover in cambridge if anybody knows it?)

To be honest - I thought it was a 40 limit so was a little annoyed but I've got away lightly given that I own a motorbike and ST and enjoy opening them both up.

only ever had 3 points on licence, which i got 10 months after first passing my test (which made the next 14months of driving fun, i can tell u) i was doing 49 in a 30 zone.

none at the mo than goodness as having done my motorbike test in nov last year i am on that 6 points and out on both the car & bike liecence rule for 2 years!

Had 3points on a CD10 when 19 after an accident and 3 from a camera.... 42 in a 30 it's a hidden camera pre the yellow paint that lives in a dip behind a bus stop on a road thats the width of a mway (could it be a cash machine rather than a safety camera I asked myself!?!)

It might be worth looking through your policy to see if it says in it. I've just had a look and mine says:

"It is your responsibility to provide complete, and accurate information whilst the policy is being confirmed, throughout the life of the policy and at renewal."

Which to me means that you need to inform them of any convictions. I don't know if yours has something similar in it, but it would probably be best to inform them rather than giving them something which they could maybe use against you later on. Given the amount of people that have had a speeding ticket these days, I doubt they'll make you pay an increased premium straight away because of it.

From the DVLA website:

"An endorsement must stay on your driving licence for the following periods of time:

Eleven years from date of conviction

If the offence is:

* drinking or drugs and driving - shown on the licence as DR10, DR20, DR30 and DR80
* causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or drugs – shown on the licence as CD40, CD50 and CD60
* causing death by careless driving, then failing to provide a specimen for analysis – shown on the licence as CD70

Example: Date of conviction is 3 December 2002 - the endorsement must stay on the licence until 3 December 2013.

Four years from the date of conviction

If the offence is for:

* reckless/dangerous driving - shown on the licence as DD40, DD60 and DD80
* offences resulting in disqualification
* disqualified from holding a full driving licence until a driving test has been passed

Example: Date of conviction is 28 May 2004 – the endorsement must stay on the licence until 28 May 2008.

Four years from the date of offence

In all other cases.

Example: Date of offence 10 June 2005 – the endorsement must stay on the licence until 10 June 2009."

It also goes on to say however, that although points stay on your licence for four years, only any gained in the last three years count for disqualification under totting-up.
