I've done some pretty extensive tests on the ecotek and I can confirm that it does make about a 10% reduction in fuel consuption given all other factors remaining the same.

Thing is that you can get much better gains by driving around slower and more consistantly. If you're on and off the juice and generally blasting about you'll suffer with 25mpg or less. If you're careful you can get 34mpg.

You're new to the car so no doubt spinning wheels trying to pull away.... this will change and so will you've economy with it, but don't think you've ever getting above 40mpg for day to day driving

Biggest fuel economy gains - buy the ZS oil burner!

PS - starting a new project cycling to work and tracking fuel savings off set against increased food consuption...... I'll keep you updated! :-)

That's spot on Steve.
If you have any issues about fuel economy, then don't buy the ST.
I stay with the limits most of the time and get 30mpg. I still have a little blast from time to time but everyone has thier own driving styles.

£11.99 is about right unfortunately. Thieving sods. They don't come off easily if they are pushed on correctly.

I've had no problems *touch wood*

Some people that had problems put some adhesive tape I believe around the inside.

I was just about to start a thread on how many miles you were getting, I dont know what the average is but i'm getting 24.5 mpg which i think is crap! haha i dont do loads of long drives so i know thats not gonna help, but with the price of petrol now, i'm considering going to a basic (Cry) i love my car but i am pissed off with the tank.
I havent bothered looking in my handbook for what miles its suppose to do, i just drive an fill haha.

This year i may have to say bye to my passion

Well there've been quite a few threads about this over the months. There is no point looking in the handbook, I think it states a ridiculous 38mpg combined - this will never happen (for most).

I reset mine the other day driving around locally I was on 25mpg. My trip to work consists of 50 and 70mph roads and I average between 31 and 33mpg.

Unfortunately if you want a quick car the only way you're going to get over 40mpg is in a diesel.

I have an ecotek valve (posts elsewhere on the site) and so does Steve, I think about 10% improvement in fuel consumption is about right. No loss of performance and a smoother idle. It costs about £45 and is simple to fit.

That might get you to 27 mpg
