Ohhh Maaan!! Sorry to here this Patrick, i know how you feel, (the same happened to Julies last just before Christmas), but like people have said, at least he has left his details and not done a runner.

It's just the bloody inconvenience that insurance companies don't pay for.

Hope it all gets sorted soon.

the fact is if you know someone and you know whos car it is wouldnt you check on there office instea dof putting a card on someones windscreen at work saying i hot you ill speak to you in due course to discuss??? seems odd.

The fact is 2 ppl clocke don what had happened and saw it happen, they again were from his office either way i would of noticed, but imagine noone was there to see what happened. That is more the case these days if noone saw summit happen they would drive off (well at least 80% of people do)

Before i have seen a guy hit a new bmw z4 and i wrote hiss details down and waited for the guy to get back to his car to tell him what i witnessed. i dont think this case would of been the same if there was no other witnesses observing

At the end of the day, he left his details and it paying up - that's all that matters.

I understand comments about paying more attention - he never saw the car, so he clearly should have been - but there tends not to be kids in a business park!

Personally, I wouldn't pass judgement about his mind being elsewhere, or him not making more of an effort to make initial contact - maybe his wife, or kid had just been rushed into hospital in a critical condition... we don't know, so we cannot really comment...

The way you are talking, none of you have so much as clipped a kerb (where a child could have been!)

i bumped a VW touran people carrier a few years ago whilst sliding on ice, the owner got a quote and i paid cash. a few months down the line i saw the same car in a car park with the same damage on the bumper. he pocketed the cash.

It's not nice Patrick but like I said on the phone to you earlier... a car is like a lego model... the bits can be replaced for new ones and it's as good as new (aslong as the main structure isn't affected, which it won;t be in your case).

It's very annoying and very incovinient... get onto your insurance and get it sorted that way... cash jobs are a no no.

Keep us updated on progress.

cash jobs are fine in my view provided you write a recipt and get a leter signed and witnessed that says something like "this settles the matter in full with no futher actions possible by eithier party"....if at all you are unsre go via insurance but you may get it sorted faster with cash.......its your call at the end of the day not the numpty that hit a parked car

Sorry to hear about this Patrick, but at least it looks like the damage isn't too bad and hopefully it will all be sorted out fairly quickly at no cost to yourself.

I can see what you're saying there. Obviously it was a stupid thing of him to do, but all of us lose concentration for a second or two now and again. It's just that 99.9% of the time there's no consequences and we get away with it, but once in a blue moon something like this can happen.

Just had an update, they are repairing the car on the 29th of this month, however the have not told me ow long it is going to take, they will be taking the door completly off and replacing it with new mouldings too... 1585 pound including VAT the bill comes to.

and about 500 quids worth of paint. Ive told them they will need to paint the little scratch by the quarter panel next to where the door opens, so im unsure if they will just respray that whole quarter panel or not, unsure about that.

Although his insurance company is going to inspect my vehicle at some point it seems.

Everything is being dealt with evans helshaw though they are fixing it dealing with the legals and everything, supplying me with a replacment car (hopefully ST)think they bill his insurance for the work.
