280PS is 276 BHP I think.

What's a standard ST's PS is it 225?

So (after taking marketing support into account) you'll be paying about £9000 for 55PS extra and probably double the insurance.

I think it's not right to narrow the RS down to just an increase in power over the ST. Sure you'll be able to buy an ST and boost it to the same power for a fraction of the money of the different in cost of the RS but then you'll still have ST brakes (surely the RS is going to have larger brakes with Brembo 4-pots? - The RS I had these), you'll still have an ST drivetrain, no Limited-Slip Diff, and all the other goodies that will be on the RS, not to mention a sharp and fine-tuned chassis which has likely gone through much testing (pics at the 'Ring to proove).

Take the ST170 for example... If you fitted a Turbo kit to it you'd certainly get up the power to the MkI RS standards, but you still didn't have an RS...

Also there may be additional things we don't know yet... What if they have reduced the weight for instance?

Just remember it's an RS so the insurance group will be 20.

I don't think it will be group 20, The old rs was only one group up than the st170.

If it costs as much as you say i would buy one over the st3. The rs will have a few trick features on it i'm sure. Unlike the st500 which was just a few facny changes in trim.

1BHP = 1.014PS

Therefore 150PS = 147.9BHP
and 280PS = 276.2BHP

It sounds to me like it's a tuned up ST3 with some different bumpers glued on.

Just remember it's an RS so the insurance group will be 20. Doesn't matter if they put a 50BHP 1.1 engine in it would still be group 20.

It's going to be around £23000 and will have no marketing support.

I'd definately buy an ST3 and tune it to 300 if I was in the market for one.
I'm afraid they've missed a trick here and they'll know it.

Looks to me like some big cheese gaffer has stuck his oar in and refused AWD.

I'd get a Golf R32 I think

The last Focus was Insurance Grp 16A... so I guess this one will be 18A... it's not on the same level as an Evo which is Grp 20.

I don't see any of this as a bad point... as Ayesha said previous, it will be far more developed than the and will be a different car, even if it doesn't break the 300bhp mark and have AWD.

Golf R32's are nasty... ewwww

the golf R32 does look so nice and sound great and with there sequential gear box its fast and 4wd maybe its not the fastest but still a good car, guess for the rs everyone going to have to wait magazine to have first idea about that car

Golf R32 is front heavy and slowwww for what it has.

I'm with Nick 101% on what he's said. Fit the GGR kit sure, but do you have the uprated suspension? The bigger brakes? The limited slip diff? Nope and not many of the Focus ST owners do when they get these kits fitted.

Anyways... more pics for you lot to argue over... lol... Mmmm green Recaros...

Allegedly pics of the car bound for the London Motor Show

I agree the R32 in blue is stunning. However, I'd prefer the RS for the money... that said an Evo might be tempting if insurance, and fuel costs weren't an issue

From what I've been told they have pampered to the German market. By order.

They know that they could put the RS badge on the back of anything in the UK and it will sell so they have tried to make the RS as much like the Golf R32 as possible as Ford cannot gain market share in Germany no matter what they do.

You've got to give Ford their due actually.
They have a very good line up of cars at the moment and it's only going to get better but the Germans just will not buy them.
I don't know why they don't give up and pamper the market that has looked after them for so long - The UK

I've been thinking exactly the same thing... you always know that if there are any orange car's on the road it's going to be an more than likely... the green would make the very unmistakable...

I've always said I'd get in Imperial Blue, but now I'm not so sure... will have to see the car in the flesh first
