You shouldn't really coast, it's quite dangerous.
Even more so in a rear driver.
If aquaplaning or a heavy wind gush was to catch your back end then you would not be able to conrtol it as letting out the clutch would effectivley brake the rear wheels and send you even further into the spin.
I really don't think there's much you can do in an RX-8 to conserve fuel TBH.
I know that our 4.2 V8 supercharged is cleaner and more economical than the rotory.
I was cruising at 50MPH in an XKR-S with cruise control on the other day and I was doing 27MPG
Just use the car then get rid when you're bored/broke (which will be soon)
Just think of all the stuff you'll be able to buy from Argos with your points
