Every day is a friday in France!

Seriously, I don't think there is much of a difference between reliability of French and Ford. Here in the UK we have a history of believing that french cars are built poorly but to be fair, times have moved on. Citroen offer 20,000mile service intervals with no time limit - that sure as gives me much more confidence in build quality.

I will however say that the interiors in Citroen are a bit pants and it does feel cheap compared to the fiesta cabin. Also, the french do tend to do odd things with wiring and its a pain to work on when it goes wrong (but all cars are like that now too!)

As for Pugs - I loved my 306 D-turbo and Tamara (my girlfriend) now drives it and loves it too. Its far more comfortable than the ST and still is fun to drive even after 10 years on the road. However..... electric windows don't work, radio is dead and the door leaks after heavy rain..... think it was built on a friday

Well I would never buy another Renault. Not only were the electrics VERY fragile, but both Renault France & Renault U.K were 'poor' at best in trying to sort things out. Customer services at Renault U.K were shocking & rude !!
That was in 2004/5 so it was very recent.

I may stick my neck out in the future on a Peugeot, but I will be wary with French cars in future. I've never had an issue with Ford.

How come most of the posts on here are based on 'which is the fastest' or most powerful! That was only a minor thought when i bought an ST, I dont agree that so much emphasis is based on that. We live in a virtual police state now (thanks to Labour), so the chances of you getting caught for speeding or any other motor offences are quite high, thats before they punish you to the max.

It's amazing how no-one goes on about the looks of the ST, it has to be one of the most attractive hot hatches around. They look the business, are one of the cheapest to run and maintain.

I'm perhaps a bit older than most on here, but it'e more common sense than anything else that I based the decision on.

I don't think you are tbh "thanks to labour" indeed... like any of the other political parties wouldn't have done the same ^^

You do have a point about the looks though, it is a far better looking car than most of the small hot hatches out there.

it's because most interested in 'hot' hatches are most concerned with performace. Looks of the car are a given in my opinion. You wouldn't buy an ugly car just because it's fast would you? Well I wouldn't! And you're right the ST is a really nice looking machine. Certainly one of the reasons I chose it, that and the fact I couldn't stretch to a civic type r budget wise!

No regrets though, it's not too much of a compromise!
