Hey guys, have owned a Fiesta 1.4 Zetec for 2 years now and have been very happy with it and had no problems at all. I'm looking to change it next month and have been thinking about the Peugeot 207 GTi but now also considering a ST more and more and now cannot decide between the two. Has anyone got experience of owning/driving both that they could offer an opinion on? Cheers

didn't drive the peugeot but can tell u the GTI is faster than st cos its more powerful and also the fiesta new st going to be out sometime next year, the peugoet is more recent car and not too expensive and having a turbo is great if u want to make futher mods later and also the pug is less thristy than the fiesta. as for handling the ST is very good but heard that the peugoet was also very good but abit boring to drive but its more comfy and quiet than the ST. after u have to take in mind about insurance as think the peugoet is higher group. after also to consider which is a good car as well is the clio 197

That was quick, yeah i've looked at the Clio 197 and the Insurance is far too expensive and is also fairly high on the GTi. The other option then is the 207 GT but then think i'd prefer an ST over this

is the 207 have the 1.6 THP 150 BHP? cos if thats the case the engine is the same except its been lower on BHP but still the engine have a better performance than the st and better fuel consuption

That's the one, whereas the GTi is 175 BHP. Im leaning more towards the ST more and more however due to lower initial cost and lower insurance. I know a few people who had some big problems with Peugeot including the 206 GTi and since I have had no problems with Ford, looks like I may go with the ST.

My father-in-law has a 207 gti, yeah we know it's faster than the ST, but it feels wolly compared to my ST. I WASTED him on a few b-roads.

ST ALL THE WAY

I'd go with ST, not sure how much the Pug is but if your budget is bigger than required for the ST, I wouldn't be considering the Pug as second, probably have the Clio over it but as they're both French... I'd be tempted not to bother

The ST is thirsty and with the new one coming out it's bound to hit residuals, coupled with the low prices STs are going for, you'd be best placed to get a second hand ST for a bit and then consider your options when the new ST is out and its competitors offerings - just my two pence

I'd go for the Pug as the ST has just gone out of production so expect a huge drop in residuals.

The Mini Cooper S has the same engine as the Pug so I'd look at one of those as well for better residuals and better build quality.

You can also get some good deals on pre registered Corsa VXRs now.

The "New" Fiesta ST's alledged engine will NOT be shared with Peugeot BTW.

Ford and PSA are only in "bed" with Diesels.

indeed the pug have the same engine as the mini except the pug only have 5 gear compared to the mini who have 6 gears, thats the main difference

yeah the 207 gti has the same engine as a new mini cooper s, but its still french, and french car break down and loose lots of money. the st would hold its value better, plus with the new shape fiesta nearly hear the price has dropped loads on the (old) fiesta so you can pic them up really cheap.

poor reliablity and customer service with renault/french cars, also although never driven a peugot, all reviews say poor driving position and badly positioned foot pedals, test drive them first.
