Only had my Fez a few days, but already thinking that the security needs beefing up a bit.

What im after is an aftermarket alarm/immob thats thatcham approved, still works with the ford keyfob (if there is such a thing?) and employs proximity sensors.

Call me stupid, will having such a device fitted effect my warranty?

Im based in the midlands, any recomendations based on experience?

what do you mean the security needs beefing up - the standard fit alarm is awesome!

Not sure about retaining you ford keyfob with an aftermarket fit but not looked at it myself

The alarm fitted as standard to the Fiesta ST (2008 model) is Thatcham Cat 1 approved. It has sensors as well.

Yeah, but the sensors are interior sensors so they don't go off until you actaully break into the car. Also, a theif with any brains would realise that if he turned his stolen ipod up the ambient sound would drown out the noise of the ST alarm and nobody would know its even been broken into.

Best security would be to tie a dog or possibly an angry midget to the car to ward off chavs and hoodrats

If the standard system is crap then how did it manage to acheive Thatcham Cat 1?

The car can't be stolen unless you have the key and if you break a window or force open a door the alarm goes off.

What more does the Cifford do then?

Yes it is quiet I agree, but I think that's down to regs, not design.

The sounder is inside the car.

It's quite loud if it goes off and you're in the car.

thats no help is it?

i guess it got CAT1 not for the alarm but for the imob,

my clifford haa a proxi sensor (get close to the windows it will chirp) has an impact sensor and will warm away, tilt sensor and also running black jax.

the standard alarm is too quiet and is just not good enough for me - hence the upgrade.

yeah i stuck my head through the open window and was surprised how loud it is inside.

id really love proxi sensors above all else - but i think thats mainly to satisfy the 'poser' in me lol

OK point taken but the question was, what does it do more than the standard one?

You will not drive the car away without the key.

No-one takes any notice of alarms nowadays anyway as they are always annoying false alarms

like i said for me i wanted the extra sensors which i have already posted. it means i can hear it from my flat if anyone is tampering with my car which you would never hear from the standard alarm.

also the standard alarm will not cut out after 30seconds when they have the keys - if they dont know the code the car will come to a halt with the siren blazing.

the standard system is fine for most but for me and my ST's i needed something a little extra

I guess it all depends where you live and if you leave your car unattended on a regular basis. I rarely leave my car anywhere and my area is fine. I do like the clifford systems though with the extra warnings and the blackjax is great, I think they also do a "fog" system inside the cabin !
Can the Clifford be fitted totaly independently to the standard system.
