I was thinking last night - admitedly i was sleep deprived and highly bored - but why did ford spend so much effort on producing a car that in reality needs very little modding (if your honest, its a great package as standard) but didnt really lower it that much.
Some will say yes, but what about the 'normal' people (lol) that use it to drive to the shops in blah blah blah - The ST ride is the stiffest ive ever known on a standard car - that is due to the shockers im sure. Iused to have a Pug 106 gti that i lowered 60mm all round with no issues as a daily drive - even with a heavy boot audio install and 2 in the back, it never rubbed.
And if im correct, a 35mm drop as opposed to a 15mm drop should improve the handling better?
It cant be cost, the same springs are not used throughout the range (i think) as the ST is 15mm? lower.
Ford will happily swap and fit Eibach spring and still cover warranty - so it cant be that adverse to the health of the car.
I was just wondering why, in a car that i think ford got absolutely right in every department (maybe a bit more power?), the gap between tyre and arch is so big

Look at the wheel arch gap on an Astra VXR - vauxhall got that one spot on IMO
Comments please - educate me
