My intentions for organising something was only to ever benefit the members of this site, taking the initiative to actually sort something out was purely pursued as i wanted to feel like i could do something for this club.

Getting Fastford involved was only done in order to raise awareness of the site and get us a bit of recognition. Also as a bonus for those who turned up, it would have made the day a little bit more special.

I never arranged anything in order to exclude anyone, that was not my intention, and nobody would have been turned away.

Ill leave the organising to the staff from now on, it is obviousley better to sort an event thats more suitable for fordfiestast.co.uk

Cheers

Andy

Don't get down Andy!! you have done a great job getting this together. It's great that you want to do things for the site. The team were just bringing up some concerns.

With regards to the st's and non st debate. Whilst we are a big club very few of the members come along to the meets. It will be hard to get the numbers needed for the feature. If you send me an email address i can get onto fast ford and explain more what this club is about. They are an understanding bunch and were happy to feature my car just because me and Cas got married.

The team are just members like you. We are not power hungry or anyhing like that (we have 2 buttons to edit and move posts and thats it). We have experience in organising events and are just hear to help. It's people like you that keep this club alive by organising/ coming to the events.

I know how you are feeling at the momnet as i got fed up when organising ford fair hardly anyone wanted to come along.

Keep at it and we will get there and i'm sure this will be a great event.

As i have mentioned to Scotty i offered to take Julies car not just to get a feature but because i love to drive the

If you could help out with seeing if there are any rolling roads avaliable at the start of November that would be great.

Also!!!!!!

Just got off the phone with Jamie King @ Fastford magazine - they would definately be interested in featuring our R/R day - that confirmation came from Dan the editor

They are keen to feature young/smaller clubs and would make the trip to the midlands to feature us.

They said they would feature 12 cars, no more/no less and we would have to choose the 12 for the feature. They want the 12 to be all Fiesta STs and would need a brief description on each car before they give us a definate yes or no for the feature. The description would need a basic list of mods and an owners expected power output for the car.

They do have enough features for about the next 6 months - so if they come to feature us - we would obviousley be in the mag about 5/6 months later.

Come on guys

Without sounding too petty here:

1. We're not a small club... we're the largest Fiesta ST club on the net... reason for less members than STOC is because i don't make sign up compulsary

2. I'm not interested in the slightest about Fast Ford or what they have to say... if they don't want to come along then they can quite happily stay at home. I'm not being held to ransom.

3. This is not just an club, its a members club for If you want to organize for just s your looking at the wrong site. This would discount Me, Mick and Craig and other people on the site who don't have s in one swoop...

4. Micky, why would you pay £20 to RR someone else's car, wouldn't you want to do your own? I believe what i posted in comments 2 and 3 relate to this. I'd be interested in variety and seeing what your car's figures are, i already know what a standard is.

5. That late in Nov will spoil the X-mas Event as that will only be 3 weeks later. This needs to be early Nov, if the garage can't do it, find another.

Sorry for my rant but this really clashes with all what the site stands for and i'll never steer in that direction... everyone is welcome no matter who they are, now many limbs they have and what ever car they have. As far as i'm concerned we are not new, we've been here 5 years and even before STOC and both sites run differently, this is how we manage to work together well now. Magazines are nice but they can take a running jump if they want to tell us what we "can" and "cannot" do. I thought "Fast Ford" was supposed to be about Ford's, not just Fiesta s? Either way I am looking forwards to this just as everyone else in this post including Craig with his RX8... lets not spoil it before it's even got off the ground.

I look forwards to hearing your responses on this and helping get things sorted.

I know I don't post much (although I do read ever post & thread) or haven't been to any of the major meets but I thought I would post my thoughts.

I can see this from both sides of the fence, the site even though it is named FordFiestaST.co.uk is not just exclusive to Fiesta ST owners and I don't think it would be as welcoming atmosphere if it was. So Fast Ford trying to change the way the site has always been is not accommedating on their part, but thats just probably them and the way they are, obviously they don't look around on the internet much and see that this site has been going years!!! But i totally agree with scott i wouldn't want the site to change either as its the best by far.

Then again, Andy has gone to the trouble of sorting this out and I can see where he thinks its kinda been thrown back in his face. He is a fairly new member (only reg. 2 months ago) and maybe didn't realise there is/would be a Xmas event as there is no notice/threads of this on the website (unless i have over looked it somewhere? ).
Maybe, can i possibly suggest, organising some kind of calander for the website where members can see whats happening and when?? Then if another member wants to organise an event they can see if it's going to clash with anything else?

Even though i'm running a standard i would have been interested in possibly coming along just to see what its true output is, but i'm on holiday in november, gambling my life away in Las Vegas

Hopefully I haven't over stepped the mark here and said something i shouldn't, if i have please let me know.

Right just spoken to Andy about this and it has got way out of hand.

What we are going to do is get another thread started. Your help would be appreciated in getting this sorted Andy but if you don't want to i'll understand

I wouldn't say out of hand, we all need to remember the boards are public areas and sensible debate is always healthy for the site.

A new thread would be useful and i would really hope that Andy believes in the site and wishes to have anothe crack at this... if you would like to talk to me personally Andy i would be more than happy to have a chat to you via E-mail or phone if you wished. I understand your not far away from me either so i'm more than willing to go for a drink and have a good chat about things also.

Let me know... i'm not as bad a person as i might appear

Excuse me but remove your comment about "making" people sign up (I think you are referring to Owner Membership here) complusory please. We have over 8,300 members currently and the website is a HUGE expense so to keep it going we were forced to have to lock down a few areas and make our Owner Membership scheme a little more exclusive and lessen the "what do I get for my money anyway?" posts.

Many of our members are more than happy to pay a mere £10 to get the wealth of information and discounts on offer so its not like we are holding a metaphorical gun to their head. The info is out there (on the net)... they dont have to pay if they dont want to.

Please know what you are talking about before you post thank you.

I think that these sort of posts are best left in the 'PM' box

Trying not to cause another another arguement, but Pinky is right, You mentioned that these are public boards scotty, and your trying not to cause arguments and you know fully well there are members that use both your site and STOC that can see your comment of "reason for less members than STOC is because i don't make sign up compulsary" When it clearly isnt! myself and im sure others would appreciate it if you edited that comment.

Also i would like to add from my personal imo i feel very sorry for the lad that put alot of time and effort organising this event. I am not using this as an attack on the site, as i enjoy this site and altho i do not post much i like to log in and read the interesting info it has to offer, i think maybe he could have been aproached in a pm if there was problems and not been humiliated like he has been.

I'm gonna lock this and any other posts relating to problems between ffst and stoc. Relations ships are good and there hasn't be any massive arguments or slagging off for a while now.

I want to keep it that way!!

Ayesha i don't see where there is a reference to stoc anywhere in this thread. Both clubs are sucesfull and do things differently. If you want to continue this you can pm me as i know we can have a civilized converstaion to resolve any problmes you can see. Might take me a while to reply as i'm out at the moment but soon as i can i'll get back to you.

EDIT: Lou, I didn't see your post when doing this reply.

I understand your concerns and how Andy feels ( ihave been in the same siuation). Yes it may have been delt in the wrong way but what has happened has happened (his words).

Andy is a great member and the fact he is still new and wanting to organise a meet is great.

This meet is his baby and i personally think he should still be organisng it as he was doing a great job. If Andy dosn't want to help organise i can't really blame him and respect his decisions.
