Hi!

Does anybody know what are rev limiter values in different gears? Machine is factory Fiesta ST (150 standard). I did a little bit of racing last time. Pushed at third and probably hit the margin for few moments. Engine did not pull anymore. Probably it was about 7000 rpm but not certain at all. Is there possibility to do some damage if engine temperature and oil level is proper? I will appreciate your help.

As far as I am aware, the rev limiter is set to kick in before the engine can sustain damage. I think its best not to hang around the red line though, as long as you changed gear swiftly, I can't imagine you would damage your engine.

yeah ive had that b4, where it doesn't seem like its bouncing off the rev lim, but really it is, just slowly, as miburu said i wont hang round that rev range, the power tales off at around 6rpm.

It all depends on what engine mods you have.

The standard even with minor mods, i.e, K&N, Sports Cat & Cat back, plugs and leads etc will still hit the rev limiter at about 7200 revs in all of the lower gears.

It will feel like you have hit a stone wall and will start stopping strait away until you either change up or slow down.

The rev limiter is there for a reason guys, don't push it beyond 6800, IMO.

yep should upchange before you run out of power, my mountune has max power at 6500, looking at the mountune graph (MT wesbite) which shows all three cars, the standard ST max power is about 1000rpm less ish.

As Steve pointed out, you will run out of power by the time you reach the rev limiter, so there's no point in doing so. The peak power range is someway below this so you're better off going up a gear. The rev limiter is there to stop it getting to the stage where damage will occur.

Whatever you do though, don't knock it down a gear when it's getting to that stage. However short a time, doing that will take the revs to well past the limiter stage and into the proper red zone. A couple of years ago someone on here damaged their engine by doing this.

mine hits the limit at 7,150 with the mountune map.

i tend to change gear just before the limiter kicks in. obv this is not everyday - lol normally about 4k
