Hi although i dont really see the need for 190bhp as i think it will cost a arm and a leg to get the ST up there. as on pumaspeeds website the 182 packages is around £1200. A friend of mines dad brought an st from ford and was told by the dealer with a new chip and exsaust it would be easily at 190bhp.... seems a little too easy. anyone know?

Even with the Mountune Stage 2 they're getting 185bhp and that's with changing the cams and valves and other things besides.

Personally if you're gonna start pushing over 190bhp out of your ST I'd start considering a 2.3ltr bottom end! However, Mountune Fords' official performance upgrade can take the ST up to 185bhp! Obviously this can vary due to the condition of your car. The package is about £1800 which includes a full exhaust system, induction kit, manifold, remap and new camshafts/valve springs. It may seem a lot but you won't invalidate your warranty and your car will gain slight value when you come to sell your ST. Mountune also include a warranty with this upgrade. Hope this helps.

i read a full spec on the engine that the internals of the 2.0 duratec st can take up to 235bhp without having to change any internals o comprimising engine reliability, personally an st running 185bhp or under 200bhp will be quicker than a lot of hot hatches, i saw in fast ford an st fiesta with throttle bodies running about 185bhp and he did a 0-60 time of something like 6.48

To be honest when you start getting above adding a few BHP and it costs as much as buying a faster car then why don't you just buy the nicer faster car?

yeah i got that mag its summat like 440bhp, but its totally undriveable, he said it rips gear boxes apart all the time, 250bhp would have bin more than enuff, and its just about showing what you can squeeze out of a certain cars engine compared to how they come from the manufacturer, and for most people the insurance is the main side of it, i cant get touched on a type r or clio 197 hense getting the st, nowt wrong with wanting to beef it up a bit to keep up with the bigger higher insurance group boys

that has always been my view. i dont see the point at all. i mean 1800 quid to get to 185bhp. if u add that onto the cost of the car in the first place.... ya could have summet awsome!

New Fiesta ST was £13500 ish add Mountune Stage 2 and your looking at £16000+ you couldn't buy anything "new" that would be awsome, Focus ST is more than that so is type r, Clio 197 cheaper but certainly not that fast, Corsa VXR £13500 fractionly quicker than MT Stage 2, probably pick of the bunch. Second hand you could for sure. Any more anyone ?
