Morning all

Sorry if this is repeating an old post and i know that there is an insurance quote on this page already. But just need some advice off the fellow ers

Got my insurance renewal through from Elephant the other day, £777, i am 22, 3 years no claims, had license for 5 years andl ive in decent area. Any tips on where to try and get a cheaper quote? i was hoping for better than this price this year. Tried the usual confused.com etc and no joy.

is completely standard.

Cheers

Sounds like a good price to me, I would have been pleased with that for an at 22.

My advice is to ring around. Have a look at the insurers in the back of Max Power magazine etc, like Adrian Flux and the like. You may find a better deal with these specialists.

Plus get your parents on as named drivers, if they're experiences with no claims/convictions it should bring your premium down even further. If you have a garage, say it's kept in there overnight.

Also, keep the number of annual miles to under 5k.

Try Tesco and Churchill, they were good for me in the past.

Tesco no good, neither are Churchill. Looks like my renewal is best price, Adrian Flux could only offer £820!

mine was over 4k, added mum and dad to policy annual 10k miles it came down to 2550, but then they slapped me for my extras. if you say 5k annual then do more than that, is there anyway they can find out??? and not pay out in case of claim

well even if you crash they can read the speedometer but won't know how many miles you started on unless its in the first year or has had an MOT

Just watch out for the insurance skumbags, they are always looking for a way out of paying up. Mileage can also be recorded by the DVLA from your logbook at the time of changing keepers as well as the MOT

I think I'm right in saying it's now a requirement to fill in the current mileage when sending off the sellers part of the V5(logbook) to the DVLA, so it will be recorded as to what the mileage was when you bought it, and the insurers will presumably have access to this kind of information.
