If you have the double din radio...you need four keys to remove the stereo and once they are in they don't come out until you have removed the head unit

Aslong as your putting the keys in the correct way the radio slid out effortlessly when i did my mates
I think the connector is correct, looks right but I can't remember what mine exactly looked like
And the facia I can't tell you as we replaced with another double din stereo

Which stereo have you got.

3 seperate section. Pre facelift car

Or a single double din in a facelift?

Different ways to get each of them out.

From memory the point has to go towards the centre of the stereo although this may be wrong as it was a while ago now

From memory / a conversation with a mate you don't even need the keys. You can use a really small flat tip electrical screwdriver - slide this in and then you should feel it 'catch' - carefully pull back and the retaining pin should be released......

Repeat x 4 then carefully pull the stereo out - if the stereo goes back in accidentally at this time you might need to spring the 'catches' again

no dont do that!
I work at halfords and own an st myself.
You do need the keys as from past experience the radio will break slightly if the correct keys are not used.

Not sure if i sshould of started a new thread for this question but its to do with the stereo.
How do you get CD information to show up on the display.
I work in IT so embarrassed to ask this, but some people have said never use Windows Media player to burn music. Ive also been told that using a data cd you can have hundreds of songs on one cd with the information showing.
Think i need a burner capable of 'cd text'.

If you put mp3s on a cd text normally shows up automatically well it did in my old car but my ST doesnt play CD-RW as its the old one :P

I think it might depend on which stereo you've got fitted? Prior to late 2007 the stereo fitted in the ST wouldn't play mp3 cd's. If you've got the Sony stereo fitted after that then it should do no problem.

My ST is a 58 plate.
I made the playlist M3U instead of WPL but it didnt show up. When i press info or dsp it says 'no track information' or cd information.

My mate told me if i copy the files directly but edit the properties/summary beforehand that should work. Im sure that would count as a data CD.

haven't made one for a while but fairly certain that with mp3 cs, you do make them as a data disc, just add the mp3s and the stereo will recognise it.

So thats drag and drop basically? Do you edit the track info via properties tab?

Open the CD as though you were going to view files then just drag the files from your computer on to the CD and click burn to cd

Used a program called Burrrn and Cdex to get it working. Still buggared it up as at the top it says album and artist, so it thinks all the songs are from the same artist which is wank. Dont reckon it will help much if i deleted it because the artist should be picked up on a song by song basis.
I did press the scan button, that hasnt made it do that has it?

Any idea how to make it scroll through the info automatically?
Like display song title for 5 seconds, then display artist, seems standard on most devices.
