Sorry not an ST question but wife has a Zetec TDCI. Can anyone please advise how to remove the drivers airbag (and then steering wheel).
I have removed the cowling around the ignition and stalks but cannot see what tools are needed to remove the airbag. There are two very small holes in the rear of the steering wheel.
Thanks in advance.

The airbags are not to be messed with without professional knowledge i'm afraid.

Disconnect battery first and then leave for 15 minutes............ this I already know. Just need to know how to remove the unit after that.

I've already answered this in your original post.

If it's wheel alignment then just have it tracked at a good tyre centre that does four wheel alignment, they will straighten the wheel from the rack.

Disconnect you battery negative terminal, Press the brake pedal 5 times to fully discharge the circuits, leave the car alone for 5 minutes.

Unclip the upper steering column shroud from the lower shroud by depressing the tangs both sides of the shroud.

Obtain a thin, flatbladed screwdriver.

Insert the screwdriver at the top edge of the driver's airbag (where it meets the top spokes)

If you pull the top of the airbag away you will see inside that there are some spring clips that you need to pull away from the airbag with your screwdriver.

Remove the airbag and disconnect the electrical connector(s).

To remove the steering wheel just engage the steering lock and undo the bolt.

You can't align the wheel on the column shaft as it's a hexagon shaft not a spline.

When re-fitting the steering wheel, the torque for the bolt is 45nm, you must chek that the threadlock on the bolt is still intact, if not you will need to re-threadlock the bolt.

Hope this helps.

If you are at all unsure just put your hand in your pocket and get a garage to do it.
