Recently when I change gears quickly from first to second at higher revs my car crunches gears, despite the clutch being fully pressed. I've been to an authorized dealer today to get it fixed under guarantee (my car's 8 months old). I had the mechanic sit next to me, showed him what it did and his answer was that it's not a fault and that I just change gears too quickly.

Now I find it unbelievable that in a "sporty" car, or any car for that matter, I have to change gears slowly otherwise I crunch gears.
I told him I've been driving 17 years, have driven over 50 types of car and this has never happened. To this he said "it's only a Fiesta" and that I have to hold the clutch down longer. He sent me packing with his official statement from the dealer that the synchrons (sorry, not sure if that's the right technical word) are damaged due to incorrect usage and that my request to have it fixed under guarantee is denied.

Has anyone else had a similar problem. Or has anyone else had this fault accepted by Ford and repaired under guarantee?

Never managed to change gear 'too quickly'
The idea is to change gear as fast as you can
Thats one area of skill when leaving traffic lights

I was sure the "changing gears too quickly" excuse was complete tosh.
Sounds like I'm going to have to go to a different garage.

Yeah, the mechanic agreed that it was a synchro problem (sorry, I wrote synchron before - that's my English for you, you don't use you loose it).
But he claims they are damaged because I change gear too quickly.

Thats rubbish! If that was the case then 99% of 's will have gear box problems! Try another garage mate, He's talking pants.

Looks like I'm going to have to because I refuse to accept his explanation and I refuse to pay out of my own pocket.
How much would something like that cost to get repaired at an authorized garage?

I've had the car just 8 months so there's another 16 months left on the warranty.
