I just called my insurance ppl as my insurance is due in about 5 weeks just to get a quote for renewal and they want £1600!!! At 1st they said £1400 but thought i had 8 years no claims (I'm only 22) I should have kept my gob shut but it prob would've went pear shaped a bit further down the line anyway.

Deff aint gonna go with them now just gettin a load of quote now, gonna prob go with one of the specialist insurers

My details are:
Age: 22
Location: SE London (high premiums )
NCB: 3
When i moved to my new place were i am now, my insurance went up by £100! its ony 6 miles from where i used to live

Yep the good old DA postcode is a bad one as I have discovered

I hate & distrust these price comparison sites so when my insurance was due for renewal I just sat down for an hour or so and rang through to my current insurers and went through the details again and it went down a little.. then rang Greenlight who came in almost £200 cheaper and then I rang my current insurers back who price matched and all mods declared.

Sweet!

Oh and yeh it kinda helps being ollllllllllld and a bird

yh just got a quote on green light just waiting for the e-mail. I got a quote from them a few months back and they quoted 922 from LV so hopefully the same this time. But I just went on the LV website and they said they cant insure me maybe you gotta go thru the right channels...

One other option is to look at whoever that cheapest quote with confused is from, and contact them direct. As by cutting out the middle man, it should work out cheaper, althugh by the sounds of it you've already cut things down a bit from what your existing insurer is saying.

As Ayesha says, it's not always insurers on the internet that are cheaper anyways though. The last two times I've come to get my insurance the cheapest ones have been through buying from a broker on the phone.

i dont use confused.com as my insurance quotes sky rocketed last year, even without changing mine to the st.

got my last quote from moneysupermarket.com and that was 400 cheaper than the cheapest quote on confused, even though its with the same people!

Unlucky, when i moved out of my mums and moved into a council place literately up the road, it couldn't have been more than 1/2 a mile!, my insurance went up £30

Then my car broke down, 1.1 fiesta, so i bought a cheapo 1.0 fez and the insurance went up! They said it was a higher insurance group lol

Its just pot luck as to your insurance quote tbh.

Using confused.com or moneysupermarket.com is a good step... contacting them direct is another... but as others have said... it's like they pick a number at random half the time.

Insurance groups can go up and down in pricing as to how the market fluctuates and the economy is at the time of renewal.

It can fluctuate even more rapidly than that, a lot of it can be simply down to how they're doing on a particular day, as if you put the exact same details in a day or two apart you will get variations.

Just got off the phone with Greenlight, I had to go with monthly installment as I cant aford the whole year in one go due to my recent repair work

It went up, as i knew it would , to £967 with £400 total excess which is the best quote so far which aint too bad i suppose, its only £70 a month after the deposit which is less than i'm paying now It's with an insurer called Highway according to the e-mail

The cheapest after that was elephant at £1100 with £600 total excess and that was yearly payment so would have went up if i wanted monthly payments

Overall I'm quite cuffed I got it under the 1k mark, almost under £900 but hey cant have everything

That's not too bad a quote Alex. Just wait until you get over 25 (not long now) and then you'll be laughing.

We've all been there and done that, you just have to bite the bullet and say to yourself that all your hard work of building NCD will pay off eventually.

my renewal through door this morning, why they can't just quote for same as last year I don't know, I DO NOT WANT BREAKDOWN COVER. Anyways with £557, without (I am with Greenflag) £505 that includes £15 personal accident and road rage cover.
Seems to be up by about £50 ish, I hope that includes my Mountune extra as renewal makes no mention, they already have these details anyway.

Highway often come up as a good price but only via a Broker..my new insurance is with them and I got if via Chris Knox insurance......£264.99 with only a £250 excess! the worst quote I got was £791 with £600 excess and even the people who were cheepest for my bike insurance were way off the mark for the car

I think NU simple came back as the best for her car.....its all horses for courses I think....as I say my bike insurnce is with Ebike but they were naff for the car on price

just phoned mine up (see above), and tripple checked them to catch them out. I knocked off the breakdown cover and also said does that quote include my RS Owners discount ? oh no it doesn't sir, right then please apply it and requote. Now £484. Will be phoning a few up and see if anyone can beat that, any recommends anyone ? I need to reveal my MT mods to. (Greenlight only consider 2008 onwards for mountune, might try them though)
