Got my in October and I'm looking to get a little bit more power out of it.

Some posts I have read on here recomend induction + flexi first and this seems to be in my price range...

http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.php?id=211

I've got a mate who can fit it for me as I know little about cars. Has anyone got this and if so, what kind of changes do you get in terms of response and power over the standard ?

To me this seems the best price/power option for someone like me.
Go for Pumaspeed 160?

a lot more responsive, induction roar, 5-10bhp, maybe a bit better mpg and anything that improves engine breathing is always going to be good for its long term health.

Go for it - but remember there are other options ot there too depending on budget. To see real performace gains from upgrades there's a five page spread in the July performance Ford magazine. Oh and it might be my car that they used for the article lol

From a personal note I would recomend the work / parts supplied by Janspeed it was top stuff and the air filter (although quite expensive) produced a massive 10bhp increase at the wheels

DO IT!!! ...until you can get the cams and the remap to go up to the next stages!

(That's what I'm doing/did)

Flip! I chose the wrong option... the kit is a very good price and you should definitely go for it!!

Works for me, definatley more responsive and pulls better than standard, your removing two restrictive standard parts, so can only be an improvement.
Cheap first mods.

any alteration affects your insurance, amount depends on the company and your age, expect and increase of £50 upwards.
No such thing as a "chip" would have to be live mapped or Dreamscience/Bluefin of which the actual unit will cost you more than the kit !

yer thats what i meant dreamscience, bluefin my mate put it on his standard st and it made it slower and stall all the time. as long as the insurance doesnt go up hundreds im going to have the kit and the re map done. will it boost the bhp up allot more with the re map?

that 160kit will be just fine without any mapping, doesn't need it, car will be very noticeably better all round.
I wouldn't bother with any mapping until you have a full exhaust system including manifold even then this will all be fine. Only go for mapping if you want to squeeze a few BHP/torque extra out of it and improve driveability, also if you get cams then remap - is a must.
